We started the new year like every time for the last 30+ years: with watching the New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonics. It was delightful like always, and this year's conductor someone called Franz Welser Möst (never heard about him before) great fun to watch. The ballet parts in particular were amazing, with those beautiful costumes and the fantastic skill of the dancers.

So, that ate half the day, therefore I only managed one third of the planned crafting today. At least my jellyfish is done, and I've cut out the front panel of the little crab. Better than nothing.

Fortunately, we didn't have to cook today. Leftover soup and the last of my Silvester tuna pasties did the trick. Then we both relaxed into comfortable laziness. Tomorrow will be early enough to restart slave labour. *g*

I listened to the concert on the radio while I was driving and was pleasantly surprised by the Mädchenchor.

They sang beautifully, didn't they?

Hubby did listen also, while I listened to the Christmas oratorio. Strauss and waltzes- definitely not the sort of music I like!

Not mine every day, either, but on New Year's Day... that's something special.

Surprisingly we didn't watch the concert this time, there was a lot of classical music on 3SAT, which my dad watched.

Unfortunately, we no longer have 3SAT. Since I lost my satellite TV due to the building insulation a year and a half ago, the only German-speaking channels we get via Vodafone are ZDF, Sat1, RTL and ORF2. I so miss the regional channels... :(

You have just reminded me that my mum used to insist on watching that New Year's concert every year. I'm afraid I used to find it boring, except for the dancers. My New Year's dinner was chicken, roast potato, Yorkshire pudding, broccoli, stuffing balls and gravy. I was quite proud of myself for putting that together for one person.

Good job! I imagine it was yummy!

I got addicted to that concert while in the convent. We watched it with the sisters, and its appeal was more the togetherness than the kind of music in itself.

I watched quite a lot of the concert as well -and like you I thought the ballet dancers and their costumes were especially lovely.
