I went food shopping today, so that I wouldn't have to go again until Thursday. That's the plan anyway, I hope I haven't forgotten anything important. Got Spekulatius biscuits for a drastically reduced price - I very much suspect that was the original price they wanted to get for the things, they just boosted it up for the few couple of weeks, so that all idiots (including myself) would buy them like whole when they are "reduced". Well, it worked with me, but again, Mum and I both love Spekulatien.

I wanted to fry some turkey breast slices to yesterday's cauliflower... thingie but did it the worst possible way. I ended up with very hard greaves, which Mum couldn't even eat; one needed actual teeth for such things. *sigh*

Crafting, OTOH, went well enough. I've sewn on all decorative strips and even started on the Velcro work. I hoped I'd be able to do one half of it, but my fingertips protested empathically, so I gave up at 1/3. Tomorrow is another day.

It seems that the November season of [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo might not take place this year, though. Unless a few more people sign up, it just won't make any sense. Which is very sad, it's been a great time, but one cannot force such things. :((

I wanted to fry some turkey breast stripes and they wouldn't soften. So I added water and then more oil, and then more water, and then let it reduce — and the result was really disappointing. Charred pieces of wood would have looked better. :(

I like Spekulatius too. But especially with the summer-like temperatures right now it just feels too early for it.

We won't eat them just yet; we'll keep them for St. Nicholas Day. But since I got them for an acceptable price...

Ah that's a good thing to have in storage. :)

That is the idea, yes. Storage is my (nonexistent) middle name. ;))

I'm really sad about pico. It has been part of my life for so long; long before I took over as moderator. :(

Wish I could buy more turkey. With the exception of the months of Thanksgiving (Nov) and Christmas (Dec), the only bird I can find is chicken.

How strange. We buy mostly chicken, too, but that's our own decision. Chicken is better for Mum, and I prefer the taste.

Hand stitching through thick fabric is very hard work. I hear you.

I have been hiding under a rock, finishing a Halloween Challenge story. But I will be there for Pico, if you have it.

I must do some food shopping today, I want to make chicken and vegetables soup and need some carrots and celery. And we're out of eggs. Prices on eggs are still very high, over $3 per dozen. But the veggies are still relatively inexpensive.

Good luck with your craft projects!

Thank you. I'll be glad to have you at pico. With you, we'll be up to 4 people, that's enough to start the session; hopefully, we'll be able to see it through.
