Mum and I had our Big Adventure(TM) today. For only the second time since she did the fainting act on the street on me, we went to Lidl together. Naturally, my stomach shrunk to the size of a dried lemon all the time, having that horrible sight in front of my inner eye how she was lying on the ground with those open, seemingly lifeless eyes, but I valiantly suppressed it. (Haha, yeah, my foot...)

In any case, it was a successful trip, nothing happened, and Mum was delighted. She always loved browsing the shelves, and Lidl had senior-friendly, large price tags on the things, so that she could get the feeling of the horrendous prices herself (and see that I wasn't exaggerating). Of course, we were both quite tired afterwards - walking the street at her speed is exhausting when one is used to hurry down them briskly - so we decided not to do much cooking today. Mum made prune soup, and we ate the rest of the misbegotten birthday cake. *g*

She then had a visit from the physiotherapist and I went to choir practice (after visiting Aldi and the Chinese drugstore on my way). It was also eggsies day at school, so I fetched the eggs I had ordered last week... only to realize that I'd been an idiot, only having ordered the usual amount. As a rule, I order 20 every month and have some left over at the beginning of the next month. However, I forgot that birthday parties require baking, and baking requires eggs. I'll have to really do the juggling act this month - or buy some more eggs at the supermarket, where they are even more expensive and of lesser quality. Ah, well, lessons learned and all that.

Consequently, no crafting was done today. There were no crossword puzzles solved, either, or any other intellectual activity. But tomorrow I won't even leave the house (hopefully), so I'll be able to catch up with my life.

Oh man, that sounds like such a nerve wrecking trip for you! I would have been a bundle of anxiety, too. But super proud of her and her recovery for having made that trip.

I hope I'll be able to let go of this particular fear one day. Mum, she's a tough cookie; she wasn't nervous at all.

Me, too. We'll definitely have to get her out of the house more often.

That must have been terrifying for you! I didn’t see Mum’s recent fall, but I still keep picturing it in my mind’s eye. Nice that your Mum had an outing, though.

She's not the kind of person who'd let herself go.

I'm so happy your Mum made it through the trip, without mishap. I can understand that an episode like that would knock the confidence of both of you. I have not been keeping track of the price of individual items, but I have noticed that my grocery bill is much higher than it was a year ago.

We're working on strengthening her stamina again. Alas, if winter turns out wet and snowy, we'll have to stay inside for lengthy amounts of time again — and then will have to start from square one again.

I am so glad for both of you that the shopping trip went well.

What a good idea to have good, big, price tags, too.

We definitely ought to do this more often. The only problem is, if she comes with me, I won't be able to do half the shopping... and it will take thrice the time, too. But we'll do it again.

How frightening it must have been to witness your mother passing out on the street! I had a similar experience when my husband was in hospital recently. He hadn't been eating and was lying down when lunch arrived, so I helped him into a sitting position and raised the head of the bed. He turned a funny color, said he didn't feel well, and promptly started shaking before passing out. I thought he was dead. I went running to the nurses' station in a panic but when the nurse saw him she told me he had likely passed out due to sitting up too fast. The fainting was caused by a sudden drop in blood pressure which I should have known! I was so badly shaken I had forgotten about that.

I hope you can successfully catch up on your life. Soon I shall look forward to doing the same.

Good that your shopping trip went well! There are those shopping trolleys, where you can sit on and recover. Such a one might be helpful!

I can only imagine how you felt escorting your Mum to the supermarket. Thank goodness all went well. Hope you both get some relaxing days.
