That's how my apple pie turned out today. Still better than the other way round, and since we'll be the only ones to see (and eat) it, I haven't got a problem with it.

Other than that, we had laundry day again, and I finished 4 more of the little felt snowmen and sorted out the tiny silver and gold star-shaped sequins, so that's good progress. I also printed out some of the original (TV) dialogue from Season 5 of Primeval, in the hope it might help the currently stuck Chapter 20 of "Timescapes" move forward. *fingers crossed*

It's fairly cold over here right now - around 16°C at daytime and around 6°C at night, and forecast says it will stay that way all week. Central heating won't start until October 15, and chances are they'll give us a lot less heat for the same price due to the energy crisis. Thank God the building insulation was done last summer, or else we'd freeze in winter, especially if these strong winds keep coming. I wonder where "normal" Septembers have gone - usually it's quite warm here in September, so warm that we can keep wearing summer clothes. *sigh*

I'm glad the apple pie turned out tasty. No need to win beauty competitions with it.

It is cold here, too. First a miserably dry summer to be terrible for the farmers, and then it wouldn't even stay warm for long. This just had to be the year when early in September it was getting cold already when it feels like usually, at least early September used to be more late summer than fall weather. We had to surrender and turn on the heating a little bit. We couldn't get beyond 18 degrees inside.

Brrr! We had 22 degrees in the living room, but my desk is right at the window in the study, and despite insulation I'm sitting here with a warm blanket over my rheumatic knees.

That's not fun, either. Hope that blanket helps with your knees (and I'll suggest a blanket over her knees to my mom, too, since she also has knees problems)

Do it! A warm blanket is a blessing on the knees; plus, keeping the feet warm is very good for avoiding colds.

It's 13c here today and I have layered up my clothes. The night before last I sat with a hot water bottle in my lap whilst watching TV. I am trying very hard not to turn on the central heating yet, but I may cave later today.

Over here, we have no means to decide about that. Heating season usually starts on October 15 — unless the whole building petitions they start earlier. But I don't think that will happen this year. It's been expensive enough already, and it'll most likely get worse. Much, much worse. Layering up one's clothes is cheaper.

I agree — the taste is more important. :-)

Exactly! Although I won't mind if my bakes looked a bit better from time to time. *g*

Not every cake has to be beautiful! It´s often that the beauties among them are the blandest ones in taste!

It's usually warm until October here but I turned the heater on tonight. October 15! That's really late even in a "normal" year!

It is usually enough in a "normal" year.

Our temperatures are much the same. And like you I wonder what has happened to September - we seem to have gone from high summer to late autumn in a couple of weeks; the gentle transition of late summer and early autumn are totally missing.

I layer my clothes and picked up the custom of drinking tea in the evening. I hate tea! But it helps keeping myself warm.
