I was out and about all morning, up to almost 3pm: 3 different supermarkets, the bank (where I couldn't get my stuff done because I took the wrong papers with me), the newspaper's (hurrah, two brand new crossword books bought!), 3 different craft shops (buying some nice but basically unnecessary supplies), the sewing shop, the pharmacy, school, where I fetched the eggs I had ordered... so yeah, I'm pretty much dead on my feet.
But I got my eggs for a fairly reasonable price (the egg farmer appreciates the fact that he has a stable clientele at school selling hundreds of eggs to us each month), and I met a few friends who aren't choir members, so I wouldn't meet them on Tuesday afternoons, so it was good.
My friend Evie and I have agreed that I'd watch the Aldi and Lidl sales for us both, and since a fairly large Lidl is just at the next corner, I'll buy for her the things she needs and then put them into the fridge a school when I go to choir practice. She has an Aldi within reach, but Lidl would be far out of her way, so why not? She has so many hours to work in this term, as two English teachers have quit right before school started, she needs all the help she can get.
In other news, we had stormy rain for all but 10 minutes, then slow but steady rain afterwards, and the balcony is still leaking. But my anti-catastrophe measures seem to be working, and the rain water goes straight into the big, red plastic bucket, thanks to the strategically placed strips of tinfoil, so at least the walls and the floor aren't getting wet - yet. I really hope the "experts" to whom we had reported the problem more then a year ago will get their heads out of their arses and just do something before this century ends!

Rain! Balcony! I have my fingers crossed your preventative measures will succeed in keeping the place dry.
It has got to be so frustrating that none of the repairs have worked after all this time. Good luck!
