I think DW is having a breakdown
Sep. 6th, 2022 08:21 pmI've promised
badly_knitted to post the daily check-in to the
get_knittedDW comm. I just managed to do so, but I don't know if I'll be able to do so in the future, though, as DW demands from me to confirm that I'm human, and when I've solved their stupid puzzle, instead of letting me in they present another such puzzle, and another one and another one. And I can't comment anymore, either, or navigate the site or even look at my own inbox.
I'm not sure what's wrong, aside from their moving to a new provider or whatever, in which case I hope things will be righted, soon.
Also, FF.Net's secure connection checks are getting more overdone with each passing day. I've tried 4 times to get through their "Are You Human" Captcha check today... and failed. I'm just about to give up on the stupid site!

Date: 2022-09-14 03:08 pm (UTC)Talk about frustration: I recently spent days trying to log on to the Social Security website to apply for my retirement benefits. The site suggested I log-in through another site that would let me log in to multiple government sites using one Userid and password.
For security (supposedly, my security), the site asked that I download an id with a picture, such as my driver's license, to prove I am who I say I am. So, I took a picture of my license with my phone camera and uploaded it to the site. The site refused to accept the image, saying it was too blurry - WTF? So, I tried scanning the image and uploading it. Again, it refused to accept the picture because it was blurry - @#$)^%! This went on and on with the same result.
The image is blurry, yes, but that is the fault of the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles, who took the original photograph! Not much I can do about that.
I ended up having to visit the local Social Security Administration office in person to show them my ID and prove my true identity. That took almost all day, as I had to stand in line to get into the building and then once I was let in, stand in another line to see an agent. Once I proved who I was, the process accelerated and my application was quickly approved.
Sorry for the rant, stupid things like that seem to happen all the time, at least where anything having to do with the government is involved. So yeah, I understand how you are feeling - sometimes you wonder why you make the effort.
