So, here are my basic little felt Nativity scenes:

The pattern seems to be easy, but getting all the necessary stitching done, through multiple layers of hard felt and double-sided tape was a killer on the fingertips, so I seriously doubt that I'd make them ever again.

I still have to parts for 5 more penguins cut out and taped together, and after that I might want to give this little angel a few tries, if only I can figure out how the body was folded:

Frankly, if the charity fair gets cancelled this year again, I don't know what I'm gonna make with so many Christmas felts. Although I might be persuaded to "sell" them for paid LJ time if someone is inclined. They're light and flat enough to send them off in a simple envelope as a letter, without getting taxed... I think.

The nativity scenes are really cute. Now — what are the penguins for?

They are for Christmas, too — just like snowmen. Which reminds me, I could actually make some snowmen, too... *stomps on idea ruthlessly*

There´s nothing complicated about folding those angels- cut out a circuit, do a straight cut to the centre then fold. I sincerely hope that the charity fair will take place! It´s about time that Covid comes to a halt!

Nah, it is folded differently, but I did find a tutorial how to do it fairly easily, so I'm content.
You're so right about Covid!

I gave it another try, before I wrote to you, and it came out the same. Besides, I've done this quite often with my students. T'was a last minute present to their parents!

I do believe you, I just found a different way to do it.

They all look great.
You have to pay tax to send something?

No, the receiver needs to pay tax, if it is a package, no matter how small. If I send it in an envelope like a letter, then they don't have to.

I just experimented with a piece of paper and got something that looks similar (fabric is softer so will give a better look). I cut out a circle, folded it in half (toward the back) from top to bottom, then folded the sides in (toward the middle front). Does that give you a starting point?

Yes, thanks. Someone on the DW version of [livejournal.com profile] get_knitted suggested to fold 1/3 of the circle backward, then the sides forward, and it worked like a charm... with paper. The felt is a bit thicker, but I think it will look great.

You´ll have to show me, because my friend and I decided, that putting tiny angels in the middle of the stars we intend to make might be nice. Maybe you´ve found a way that affords less felt! The quantity of felt I possess is meagre!

Basically, you can make them any size you want. It's a circle of felt, folded back at the one third mark and then folded forward from each side from the centre point. The head and the wings are added afterwards.

Love all the crafted items, especially the penguins! That's a lot of hand sewing through tough layers. I don't envy you the work.

I enjoy doing it while watching crap telly. As I'm not really capable of writing at the moment, such mindless tasks are very relaxing, even if the fingertips hurt afterwards.
