It's been raining, on and off, all afternoon, and temperatures would actually be quite nice, if not for the dampness. It's suffocating. Of course, the fact that my immune system is battling the cold might play a role, but still... I've picked up the custom to change my t-shirt several times a day: one I wear, the other one is hanging on the door, drying - and I switch them every other hour or so. The same with the pillows during the night. *sigh* And I was so looking forward to cooler temperatures!

The cold symptoms are practically nonexistent as long as I don't try to lie down. As soon as I do, I start coughing, my head gets stuffed and my throat dries out. Not that I wouldn't know this; I've been living with this wonderful condition all my life. There's always the unfounded optimism, though, that it might be different this time. (It never is, but I don't give up so easily!)

So, since I'm practically symptom free during the day, I cooked today, put away the laundry and taped together the front panels of my little felt creches. The roof, the manger, Mary and Joseph are all fixed with double-sided tape (all 10 of them); next week I can start with the actual sewing/stitching. I decided to give my fingers a break today.

What else? My friend Evie called to see how I'm doing cold-wise, and we had a lovely conversation, as always. She is currently moving houses (not quite voluntarily, but that's not my story to tell), and has all hands full of work. Fortunately, she has decent children who help her, but still, becoming uprooted after having lived in the same place for 30+ years isn't an easy thing to do. So, while she bears it admirably, a little moral support is always helpful, or so she tells me. Next week, should I manage to shake the stupid cold in time, I might get over to her new place to help her moving things. We'll see.

Unfortunately, there is nothing to watch on the telly tonight. I usually watch the documentaries about the British royal family, but today's special is about Meghan and Harry, and I could never stand them, so I'll probably spare myself the experience. An evening without a baking show is a sad evening indeed. :(

Yeah, it was the same here yesterday, it rained and was only 22° but 70% humidity. I sweated like a pig while cleaning the flat.
Damn summer ...

I hear ya! And tomorrow we're having the bi-weekly cleaning frenzy again, because, clearly, the place is more important than the people who live in it...

That heat sounds dreadful. My house was beginning to feel and smell damp, because it has been closed up for too long, so yesterday I opened the outer doors and let the cool breeze blow through for about eight hours. It feels so much better now but, just to make sure, I have gone back to the Victorian system and thrown back the bed covers today to let it air.

We regularly air our bedding on the balcony. That's the only way for it to make it from one washing to the next. *g*

I am like you when I get a cold. When we first married my husband was really distressed when I said I wasn't going to bed, but would sleep sitting up in an armchair as, otherwise, I would feel really bad, and not sleep anyway. Fortunately he has got used to my idiosyncrasies over the years!

Currently we have pouring rain — it is only 17C outside, and the rain is so heave that the path around the house is currently a moat. But I tell myself the plants will be happy. The farmers maybe less so though as it is not exactly harvesting weather.

Yep, all that rain would have been needed much earlier!

I hope that cold goes away soon! I'm not a fan of Harry and Meghan either. YouTube is my favorite place when I want to watch things, and there are some great baking vids there too. John Kirkwood is my favorite.

I have a lot of medicines in a box next to my bed. I, too, can barely sleep when lying down.
