Soldiering on

wiseheartMum and I are both under the weather - she because her joints react to weather changes with fierce aches and I because the mundane symptoms of my very common cold - so we didn't do much today. Okay, we did the laundry (or rather Louise the Elder did it), and Mum made Kartoffelauflauf for lunch, but other than that we both vegetated in front of the telly and napped a lot in the afternoon.
The heat wave broke during the night, and we even had some rain, which is good for the fields. Unfortunately, some of that little rain has found its way through the leak of the balcony. Again. I think I'm slowly learning to live with that event, since there's nothing I can do to change it. The outside insulation of the balcony windows should have been done last summer... we're still waiting. I've built up some very creative inner channelling, with the help of tinfoil, so that the water can flow directly into a bucket, but it is still annoying.
Other than that, I'm just tired (not being able to sleep during the night because of the cold symptoms is draining) and listless. Temperatures have dropped drastically, but now I'm pending between sweating profusely and freezing. Not fun. But that's how it always is, one just has to sit out the whole thing.
The single highlight of my day was a short phone chat with my friend Evie. It's good to hear an outside voice from time to time, and no, the telly doesn't count.
