Today we apparently had 41 degrees (Celsius) in the city, which was the only fact why I was happy that I had done my food run in the early morning. Around 8am was already quite warm, but still bearable. Still, it was very hard to get up at 6am after a night when the longest I slept in one go were two hours.

In any case, we were trying to save our energy (such as it is in these days). I worked a tiny bit on my creche scenes; figured out a very sneaky way for the hangings. Do you know those terrible buttons they have on bedlinens? The ones that consist of a small metal ring and lots of thread twirled around it? Well, I sacrificed one pillow-case (will sew on sensible buttons later), removed the thread and used the little metal rings for hangings. That way, whoever gets the little felts, can hang them on the wall as well as on the Christmas tree.

I didn't make much headway with the creches themselves. We had to let down the blinds around 11am already, to keep out the worst of the heat, and I refuse to work by lamplight when energy prices are skyrocketing. There's time enough until Christmas, and I'll try to work in the morning hours, unless I have to make a food run. Or we have to do the washing. Or the cleaning lady comes. Or anything else housewife-y that might happen. It's not mine to decide about such things.

Other than that, I had a phone chat with my friend Ilonka, had a row with out neighbour about leaving the back door of the corridor open (to let in some air - she) or close it because of the strong wind, so that our front door wouldn't rattle like crazy (me). Needless to say that I lost. But at least I had the satisfaction of closing our door into her face, which might be childish, but I was really pissed. Heat - or cold- coming in through that back door hits directly the outer wall of our flat, not hers!

Apparently the heat wave will break tomorrow. Nice 24-26 degrees are prophesized. Heaven! I just hope we won't have stormy rain with them, too, or I'll be carrying water buckets from the balcony day in, day out. *sigh*

Fingers crossed the heatwave will break.
We'll be back to > 30° next week.
"Only" 29° today but with high humidity ... ugh.

I think I will have to build a pipeline to get some of your hot air. It's 22 here, and it will get even cooler the next days. Autumn scenery, only the rain is amiss! Can't you seal the leak with silicone?

That has to be done from the outside, which I can't do, obviously. I'm not made for hanging on a rope from a ten-storey building. We've been waiting for the Fachleute to come and deal with the leak for over a year by now...

We always have a few, but this year it's been a bit too much.

The temperatures are a wee bit cooler here now, but not much. It's 1:22 AM and it's still 20° outside; this summer just won't let up.

At least it did rain a bit last night. The fields really need it.

Ugh, the weather sounds awful. We’ve had a few neighbour problems since moving to our new place, so difficult to reach compromises with utter arseholes.

That is true. And arseholes are breeding like rabbits!

I hope you don't get thunder storms. I hear France and Spain had some doozies! As for your spat with your neighbour...hot temperatures often make for hot tempers.

We had rain and just enough wind for the water to hit the leak on the balcony unerringly. *sigh*

It is. Last night I had to change my small pillow repeatedly because it got soaked through within an hour or two.

I hope your weather has broken this morning. We have a little rain, and a cool breeze.

Same here; and now that the temperatures have dropped some 12 or 15 degrees at once, I'm freezing. Even though I know that 25 or 26 degrees are actually warm; but bumping down from 41 is a bit too much.
