I fetched my fixed duvet from the seamstress today... after having made the obligatory food run. Then I went to the Chinese drugstore to buy detergents and stuff - and was shocked by the prices. I go to the food shops twice a week, so I'm more used to the galloping inflation where food items are concerned, but I need this stuff not so often, so the shock was much bigger.

Ah, well, what you can't change you have to endure, right? At least it wasn't quite as hot today as last week... although it's coming back, soon.

I also had a fight with Mum who can be quite unreasonable sometimes, with the argument that she wants to spare me extra efforts. She doesn't seem to realize how much extra effort it would mean to me if she took another fall... God beware! And then she's insulted when I ask her to be a bit more careful and not take unnecessary risks. *sigh*

Had a brief phone chat with my friend I. (whose daughter is expecting). Said daughter had adamantly refused the idea of marrying the father of her baby, saying that marriage would ruin their so far perfect relationship. She's apparently changed her mind, and the wedding is taking place in two days' time. :)

What else? I did a tiny bit of crafting in front of the telly, but not much because my fingers are still hurting. Once I've finished this project, I might put felt work aside for a while. If only other craft projects (especially those including paper and/or lolly sticks) wouldn't require so much work space and make so much mess!

I went through the same process with my mum. No matter how often I told her to be careful (aka not go down into the garden alone, for instance), she did what she wanted to do and hence did a lot of tumbles, which often ended in the hospital.

It's hard to reason with a 90-year-old when she gets the impression that she isn't taken seriously. *sigh*

Your mum sounds like my dad ... super stubborn and not listening to reason. Argh!

Usually she is fairly reasonable — unless she comes to the conclusion that people are seeing her as a demented old fool. What that has to do with (not) calling me to move the phone wire out of her way when she's crossing the floor with her walking aid is beyond me, but I've given up to understand.

And now she's insulted and giving me the silent treatment.

Crafting does take up a lot of space, I agree. I have a dedicated craft room but like to sew in my comfortable chair in the living room. So I have to accept a plastic tub full of the latest project, sitting by my chair most of the time.

Still, sewing/stitching is the best containable craft of all. I know I ought to start using up some of my lolly sticks and paper rests eventually, but when I think of the mess those crafts always cause I chicken out every time.
