Our cleaning lady cancelled today's frenzy because of the heat. So I was doing the cleaning myself... or, at least, part of it. Since I can't go through the entire flat in just under two hours. I chose the kitchen because it was in a sorry state due to the no-water-during-the-day insanity, plus the shared corridor with the neighbours. Tomorrow I'll do the bath and the loo; perhaps even the anteroom. And then the individual rooms and the balcony.
Which means I'll be cleaning nearly the whole week. Joy... not! But at least I can do it in the early morning when temperatures are still bearable; and I can be as thorough as I'd like to be. Not an option when someone else does the work. Of course, there are things I simply can't do on my own, like turning over Mum's mattress (arms are too short and not enough hands) or dusting the top of the shelves (can't climb onto ladders), but at least Mum can be reassured that we won't drown in dirt.
Other than that, I did a tiny bit of crafting in front of the telly (every single Baby Jesus is now stitched on to Mary's gown), wrote about two paragraphs, solved two crossword puzzles and generally tried not to cook in my own juices. It is still very hot. At least we didn't have to cook today, either. Those Frikadellen Mum made two days ago still lasted for today.
Oh, and H. (Little Emma's grandmother) called to tell us that Grandchild #4 has finally been born. It's a boy, born to her eldest, so a cousin of Little Emma. The parents named him Leonard.
