Trapped by sales
Jul. 7th, 2022 06:14 pmI went to the Lidl supermarket in the morning because bananas and cherries were significantly reduced in price. We like them both, and while bananas are good for Mum's stomach and bones, they are available all year. Cherries, on the other hand, have such a short season! I still ended up spending more money than originally expected because other prices managed to sneak up again in my absence, but I'm not longer even surprised.
The good news is that I finally finished the umbrella page! It isn't as neat as the original I saw on YouTube, since I don't have the skills or the nifty tools of Sviatlana Balybina, and the beads are too large for the pattern, but those were the smallest ones I could get. Therefore the I couldn't make the cords as taut as I'd have liked, but they'll have to do. I took great effort to secure them, so that the kid won't be able to pry them off and - God beware - eat the beads, and I think I've succeeded. I've stitched the page together with the correspondent one (the match-the-colour teacups) and will start seaming them tomorrow. Then the time of the dreaded book binding will come...
We had a light lunch: leftover potato soup and then Wiener Würstchen with a mixed salad, and we shared an alcohol-free Radler afterwards. I love the days when I don't have to cook!
I also talked to my friend Evie on the phone and learned - via text message - that another one of my friends has caught Covid, together with her entire family. Since we haven't had any personal contact for at least three weeks I'm not worried about Mum in this context, but I feel for them. She's managed to dodge the virus while school was in operation; now that she's having holidays, it caught her. It isn't fair!
