I got up at 5.30 in the morning, which - for me - is an ungodly early time. But I wanted to buy lots of stuff on sale at Aldi, and when I got there later on, the early birdies (usually old ladies with a small purse) would have emptied the shelves already. I was there shortly after they opened and managed to get such exotic items as tomatoes, courgettes, cucumbers, peaches and turkey breast filet at a reduced price. Too bad I don't have a really big freezer, but considering the electricity prices it is perhaps better so...

I got home at half past 7 and it was already hot in the sunny patches along my way. Fortunately, I could go most of the distance in the shadow of our big, ugly 10-storey concrete buildings that kept the sun out of my face. Even so, I was quite wet when I got home, so I abandoned the idea to go back to the other supermarket, where I might have got other things cheaper.

Today I had to cook, too, so I made Sauerbraten for two days. I also finished the back cover of the Candy Princess quiet book, after which I decided that I've done enough for one day. The rest of the daily schedule consists of vegetating in front of the telly.

I think that I fell asleep for a last snooze at the time you returned home. Morning snoozes are the best ones- still cool outside (16 today), the courtship song of the birds has died down a bit (or the cars are louder at that time)...

Normally, that is the time when I turn to my other side — I'm really not an early riser — but at such temperatures you have to start early if you want anything done. I had a short nap after returning, though.

Yeah, that’s the way to do things in summer. I’m not an early riser, so I don’t automatically do that in hot weather, but when I do I feel much better. Good on you for being organised.

Well done!

We do the major shopping at 7 of a Sunday, but then we are able to drive to the supermarket — even with the price of petrol we geel lucky.

What an ungodly hour of the morning to shop...although I have been known to shop after midnight in the past.

I'm lucky to live in a short walking distance from both Lidl and Aldi, and even the Savoy Park shopping centre is only 2 tram stops away.
