It started with the runs to the loo at 6 o'clock or so; yeah, another week is over, the cycle starts from the beginning. Meh.

I was so annoyed by the whole thing that I decided to get up in time (originally planned to sleep a little longer, as tomorrow we'll have to get our mourning routine finished before 8 o'clock, since we won't have water until 5 in the afternoon) and packed together Louise (the washing machine) had been airing a bit since Saturday.

Then I started working on the seaming of the first quiet book double page that I had stitched together yesterday. "You don't have to finish it today," I told myself. "Just stitch along a bit as long as you feel like it." And indeed, I did one of the 4 pages before breakfast, which consisted of yogurt, black coffee, toast and a banana. Again.

After breakfast I decided to make apricot jam, before the apricots (bought on Friday) get depressed and rot. This was my first attempt at apricot jam since, oh, I think 1997, when I managed to caramelize it or whatnot - it was quite dark (not that it would do anything to the taste), and I decided never to do it again. But these clever jam fix things make it so easy. So, now we have two jars of home-made apricot jam, after nearly three decades. Yay!

We ate lunch - boiled potatoes, black coffee and a banana - and went for a walk. It is quite hot at the moment, but Mum enjoyed herself nonetheless. Coming back, I thought I'd stitch along a bit more on my seaming... and actually managed to finish the entire thing! I even developed an idea for the next page; we'll see if it will work out or not.

By then I was quite tired, so I decided to play some Solitaire and read some fanfic (again, my own) on my geriatric laptop. In-between, I had a long phone chat with my friend Evie, who's currently looking for a house she might be able to afford, since she has to move out of her home of more than 30 years. I also talked with Ilonka, whose daughter is expecting a baby, and with H., Little Emma's grandmother.

Now I'm back to fanfic and Solitaire, until the re-runs of the GGBO start again. Actually, during lunch we caught half an episode of the Hungarian version, so that was, at least, something we hadn't seen a dozen times before. I wish there were a TV channel with regular sci-fi series on the programme. Because the same boring films that get shown here and there every other week are not worth watching.

My friend has a streaming service that has everything Star Trek or Star Wars related.

I don't think so. But again, I'm such a techno-wheenie that I might simply not know how.

Ooh, I love homemade apricot jam. Good for you! The bought stuff just doesn’t taste right.

It is practical for baking, though.

Which German channels do you get?
Because Tele5 (I think?) does have a lot of sci-fi.

I know, I used to watch that channel all the time — until my satellite TV fell victim to the Great Building Insulation Project(TM) last summer. They laid the insulation stuff over my cable, and then somewhere between the roof and our level they managed to break the cable while fastening the insulation to the walls. Of course, I couldn't expect them to peel off the whole thing 8 storeys long, just to find the failure. I had that cable hanging down from the roof for 27 years at my own risk.

I never thought I would encounter a country where re-runs of Star Trek are not a thing. :D

Well, this is a very peculiar country, with very peculiar priorities. We've got half a dozen channels that show nothing but politics, half a dozen sports channels, half a dozen food channels, but RTL Spike was the only one showing any sci-fi... and not series, either, just stupid movies.

Star Trek and the like seem to run in continuous loop on some channels! And Doctor who I have found, too, but I do not remember where and when...

Whatever channels those might be, we definitely don't have them. A shame, really; sci-fi is my most favourite genre.

Sorry about your stomach problems, it is no fun cooking and not being able to eat. Cable offerings were abysmal here (unless you paid through the teeth), so I dropped cable and now stream movies, dramas, shows/programs from different sites on the web. For the most part, free, although I do pay for two streaming sites that I feel are worth the cost. Definitely less than I was paying for cable, so I am happy in the long run.
