We had odd weather today: warm, yet mostly cloudy, and it made everyone tired and sleepy. Mum didn't even want to go for the planned walk, and she didn't want any dinner, saying that she wasn't hungry. In the end, we went out anyway, half an hour ago, when it was cooler and fairly nice, and when we got back, she decided that she did have an appetite, after all.

I was relieved; she really can't afford to get any thinner. She's skin and bones mostly, as it is. She does eat with relish as a rule, but she just can't gain her weight back. This is another family trait, I guess. The women on Grandma's side tend to be rather... voluminous up to the age of 70-75 - then they begin to grow thinner. So was it with Grandma and her older sister, with Aunt Clara, and so is it with Mum. Ah, well, perhaps in 10 years I'll start getting slim and beautiful, too, eh? *g*

In other news, I've finished the birthday cake page and even stitched it together with the front page (the one with the hot air balloon). Next up: the long and tedious seaming. *sigh* I didn't do much else today; felt tired and a bit dizzy at times. This sudden outbreak of summer has taken its toll on us - and I could never bear hot weather anyway.

And completely unrelated: why is it that I can connect to Gmail via my outdated Internet Explorer but not via Firefox? I hope it is just a temporary glitch, but it is annoying nonetheless.

Warm and cloudy is such a weird weather, it has turned into this in the evening here as well.

And living in a ten-storey concrete monstrosity doesn't help things, either.

Weather affects health so much. I hate hot weather too. We’re in a cold snap here, and I’m enjoying it.

Me, I prefer temperatures between 20 and 26°C. Everything else is either too warm or too cold for me. ;))

I can cope with hot, dry weather (mostly), but hot, humid weather drains me completely. My mum did the same, when she hit seventy-five. Both she, and I tend toward fat, although in the past I have done some serious dieting, which has not stood me in good stead for my current age.

I gave up on dieting after one particular diet — recommended by a doctor, no less — caused me digestion problems: since then I can't eat peppers, raw onion or anything of the kind and can't drink wine. Well, I hate wine and raw onions, so it isn't a problem, but the fact that I can no longer eat paprika (the fat, sweet red kind) still makes me sad. I used to like them so much!

Even if it means to have the runs in every 7 to 30 days' time?

It is so hard to get old people to eat, and with such a muggy weather it´s even harder!

Oh, Mum actually loves to eat, most of the time, thank God. Yesterday was an exception.

Firefox quit working for me ages ago, it won't load most websites! So now, I use Chrome and sometimes MS Edge, although I am not crazy about either — sigh.

We are getting into the dog days of summer here, early. I can't imagine what July and August are going to be like. You would hate it where I live, extremely hot and humid for most of the year. wet and cold the rest. And today, aside from the extreme heat warning, we also have an air quality alert — dust coming in from the Sahara desert.

That sounds unpleasant — my sympathies!

I for my part would prefer to use IE until the bitter end, but soon it won't be possible at all. Fortunately, the Gmail thing was just a temporary glitch.
