So, I've begun planning out the new quiet book for Elise's third granddaughter, Janka (which is Hungarian for Jeannie, BTW). It will be a tad more girlie than the twin ones I'd just finished yesterday, but not another doll house. The girlie aspect will be shown more in the colours than in the topics.

The front page will be based on this one, although I'm considering the use of sparkly pom-poms instead of the buttons, and the colours will be different:

Then there might be a match-the-colour activity page, similar to this one:

Or I might use this one instead, as it works with buttons instead with hook and loops, and the basic idea is to offer as many different activities as possible:

I'm also planning another castle puzzle page, perhaps with different colours and applications, because castles are good for little princesses and puzzles are good for the brain.

Then, to offer a counting activity, I might do something with dominoes - no clear idea yet what, but I have a great deal of black hard felt that would be excellent for this pattern.

A birthday cake with a zipper, in which attachable candles are kept would also be good - kids need to learn to use zippers without injuring their fingers, and besides, one can always add another candle as she gets older, right?

I'm thinking of making a fish bowl or deep sea page, for moving the decor stones under the net and using the two discarded jellyfish that are waiting for a purpose, but have no clear idea for the design just yet.

For Page #7 and the back cover I don't even have any ideas yet, but I hope some extensive research will bring the necessary inspiration. In the meantime I can already start on the pages that are planned out. The seaming will be pale pink in this case... very, very pale pink, almost white. I'm not making a Barbie book!

Other than that, we went to Lidl with Mum - for the first time since her fainting episode in early February. I must admit that I was very nervous, this being the longest trip ever since, but thank God everything went well. We then had crepes with home-made strawberry jam for lunch, which was very yummy.

But really, how is it Friday again?

I am even worse with day counting. Thought it was Monday today, skipped the whole weekend. Must be because of yesterday's feast day.

Oh, I realized it was a feast day because all my programmes were deleted on Sat1. But which feast was it anyway, Himmelfahrt?

What about animals in a forest?

It is not so much about the theme than about the design — I need some lacing activity, too, for which I haven't find the right design yet.

How is it Friday? I don't know. I keep asking myself the same question. To make your castle more 'girly', curve the roofs on the turrets. What about a page with flowers and moveable butterflies or bees?

I'd definitely want to do something with butterflies, more so as I have some ready-made felt ones in store. That would save me a lot of time and design.

As for the turret roofs, I wanted to use some triangular pieces left from a former project, so I decided against curving them and added little crown-like collars to them. In the end I couldn't use the leftover pieces, after all, as they proved too small, but by then it was too late to change the design. I think I'll recycle the little hot pink triangles as bunting for the birthday cake page... unless that, too will change in the meantime. *g*

Another book! Can't wait to see the end result. Those books are so creative.

I can't really take the credit for the creative ideas - I just copy them. ;)
