We had toddler day again, yay!

My two young friends, Adri and Gaby were here with their little sons - the intended recipients of the quiet books I'm currently working at. We had a grand time - Mum enjoyed interacting with the little ones, especially as we haven't seen Little Emma & Co. for years, literally. I understand that the family doesn't want to give us any germs unintentionally, but they don't seem to realize that Mum is beyond 90 and won't last forever.

In any case, we had fun, the kids obviously had fun, too, so it was a delightful morning.

Toddler time can be fun indeed! I know very well that little ones are sick quite often, but letting years pass from one visit to the next is not very nice. I hope I did express my attitude at this politely enough to not annoy you. But, as you said, your mum is beyond ninety...

I am glad — visits from toddlers are always fun, and I think there is a point where you weigh up the possible risk against the joy of such a visit for your Mum, and decide the joy is worth the risk.

In these covid days it's a very tricky situation, but your mum has so few years left that for her to be able to spend some time with delightful small children was probably worth the risk.

We both thought so, yes. Especially as the little ones don't go to kindergarten yet, which is the breeding ground of all possible germs, so they are relatively safe. Besides, we have to let the cleaning lady, the physiotherapist and the chiropodist into the flat on a regular basis, and those visits are a great deal less delightful.
