...was fairly subdued as days of religious importance go. Mum watched Mass on the telly, I baked cheesy rabbit cookies. Like these:

I just used a different cutter, since I made 4 batches and didn't have the patience to fuddle around with the smaller one. 3 batches will go to different families, obviously.

I also worked a bit on The Thing of Beauty, partly because I burned my fingers yesterday, so sewing was out of question, partly because it has a closer deadline. I've made one page only, but small progress is progress, too, right?

Not much else happened. We ate leftovers and generally had a quiet day. Which is just the way we like it.

Great that you posted the recipe! I think it might be nice to have such rabbits as an appetizer for Easter!

Just make sure that you put enough salt into the dough or else they'll taste like... well, like nothing at all. I'm thinking of trying a bit of red pepper or tomato mark into it next time.

I think I will take mountain cheese for the topping. It tastes more aromatic!

You can take what you want! The recipe asks for Parmesan, which is awfully expensive and which I don't even like, so I use Emmenthaler instead.

Edited cuz I've mixed up my English and my German again.

Those rabbit cookies look and sound so good! I'm making it a quiet day today too. Or as quiet as it can be with two teenage cats in the house. LOL

Well, there's quiet and then there's quiet. It is all relative, isn't it?

Yum. Cheesy anything is always a hit with me. Sorry to hear about your burnt fingers, though. I hope they're feeling better today.

It wasn't so bad, really. I just grabbed a plastic spoon I didn't know was very hot. Fingertips are a tad tender, but nothing worse.

Sure!

Ingredients: 100 gr plain white flour, 60 gr softened butter or margarine, 60 gr quark (I believe the English equivalent would be soft cheese- not the same but similar), 1/2 teaspoon of salt, a pinch of baking powder, grated cheese for sprinkling, egg for the surface

Method: mix flour with baking powder and salt, add the other ingredients, make a smooth dough. Roll out 3 mm thin, cut out the shapes you like, paint with the egg and sprinkle with grated cheese.
Lay the cookies on a baking tin that has been lined with baking paper.

Baking: in a pre-heated oven at 200 Grad Celsius for about 10 minutes - it always depends on your oven. And that is it, basically. Quick, easy and yummy. My friend Evie made them with her 2-year-old grandson yesterday.

Thank you so much for the recipe. We can't get quark over here but I've always found that thick Greek Yogurt works as a good substitute.

It's a very simple recipe and I'm looking forward to making them

Well, I do find them a little dry, despite the quark, which is why I prefer the cheesy buns that are made of a yeast dough.
