All right, I know I'm not worthy, but I had the cheek to actually write a couple of Silmarillion-based drabbles. Two of them, actually. The first one features Aerin, right after Túrin slew her husband. The other one features Celebrimbor, in the moment of finishing the Dragon Ring. (To the latter, knowing my story Visits in Eregion might be helpful, but not necessary.)

Anyway, the things are here:

Please, don't shoot me, I'm new to drabbling, but these pieces just wanted to be written, and who am I to resist the muse when she is finally talking to me again?

*ducks in fear*

Ohh, didn't I *say* drabbles were fun? *g* And they can be inspiring, and they aren't as easy to do as one might think.

You should post them to your LJ! ;)

BTW, I've read and adored #4-Taking Rest.

You really think I should post them here? Very well, then, but I'll blame you for it. *g*

BTW, thanks for taking a look at #5. My main problem was exactly what you've solved for me: the possible unfortunate choice of words. It's hard when you're not a native speaker. I'll post #5 both here and to FF.Net, shortly.

For someone new to drabbles you're doing a very good job. But do you mind very much if I pick a nit about the first one? It's Tyler's fault, not yours. According to UT Aerin did not meet her end in the way he suggests: after Turin left she set Brodda's hall afire, and presumably ended in the flames:

"They have fired the hall," said Turin. "To what purpose is that?"
"They, No, lord, she, I guess," said one, Asgon by name. "Many a man of arms misreads patience and quiet. She did much good among us at much cost. Her heart was not faint, and patience will break at the last."

Despite Tyler, though, your drabble got the main point right: her heart was not faint!

Thanks for the correction. That's what I have from not doing my homework right - and I actually have read most of the UT, just not the Túrin parts. I'm not particularly fond of the guy, you know.

Maybe one day I'll write a different version. But for now, I must admit I'm rather content with the current one - despite Tyler. *g*

As for your question in the review: no, the Dragon Ring is not one of the Seven. It's one of the so-called "lesser rings", where the Mírdain (and Celebrimbor himself) were only trying their skills. The whole idea was first established in Visits in Eregion, I don't remember if you know that story or not.

As far as I know I didn't read that one. I'll have to reserve a quiet moment, then.

Nah, actually you did read it. I just saw a few moment ago when I posted the (so far) last part of the Boromir/Elladan drabbles. The only thing you missed was Bruises, but I'm not sure whether you really are that interested in young Boromir vignettes.

Sorry, I'm bad at remembering titles. It was the Very Old Narvi one, wasn't it?

(Yes, you're right, young Boromir vignettes aren't my cup of tea. I'm too much of an elitist Elf-lover... and even Silmfics don't have my attention like they used to do.)

Yes, it was the Very Old Narvi One With The Crappy Title (TM), so it's small wonder you don't remember. My titles aren't what they used to be...
*sighs*

Now, I especially enjoyed the Aerin one, I felt quite sorry for her!

Thanks. I always thought she was a very tragic character. For all the good she did to her own people, despite a desperate situation, she practically got nothing in exchange.

Poor thing didn't get much, no. At least, she has a drabble now!
