Sorry, I can't phrase it properly in English.

In any case, physiotherapist lady was here today again - and promptly found the on/off switch of out telly. Yes, the same one I've been looking for in vain for at least two weeks. Of course, she's 20+ years younger than I am and probably knows better what to look for. Whatever the reason, we are eternally grateful. Now we can wait in peace for the techie to take a look at the remote.

It was also a social day for me, as I had to fetch the eggsies once again, meaning that I met several (ex-)colleagues in a mostly child-free environment. *g* I also did a great deal of crafting, since telly wasn't an option for half the day; now I have two cat plushies completed, another one that needs to be sewn together and the last one half-finished. I call that good progress.

Hah! I so knew there had to be one! Lucky you! Your physiotherapist is worth her money!

She definitely is — and not only because of the telly.

It's really great for the TV! As my mum is also quite addicted, I understand how problematic it was!

Yeah, the problem is her eyesight isn't good enough for reading anymore, and she can't go out, so the telly is her only connection to the outside world.

I can imagine! My Mum can still read but with her eyes problems, she can't evaluate the distances well so "doing" things is complicated so watching TV keeps her occupied and keeps her mind far from her problems!

When I was flipping between homes, many years ago, I rediscovered the joys of radio, because I had only one TV. Crafting and radio go perfectly together. That said, finding the on/off switch on the TV is definitely a win. I don't think mine has one.

That was what I thought, too. Perhaps you need a physiotherapist to find it. ;))

I'm not fond of the radio; in fact, I like it quiet around me. I spent 40 years in a noisy job, so I don't need background noise. I just let the telly run while crafting because hearing it speak German helps me keeping my vocabulary alive. Mum and I do speak German from time to time, but mostly about the same things, which isn't much help vocabulary-wise.

Hurrah! Out of curiosity, where is it?

Also, I see Elwen's mention of radio and I wonder if it is worth looking for podcasts that your Mum might find interesting? I have a couple of BBC ones that I love (one a music quiz and the other a history one) and the podcast format would allow her to listen when she wanted, in case of future TV problems if nothing else.
