Anniversary

Last night was the first anniversary of Mum's accident, in which she broke her thighbone in two places. Today is the first anniversary of the surgery in which a skilled young doctor repaired the bone. So today we dug out the eggnog (the only kind of alcohol that can be find in our home) and raised our glasses on said young doctor. May he keep his skill and devotion for many years yet, to the good of his patients and despite the disastrous healthcare situation in our country!

Other than that, I thawed out the freezer, which was seriously overdue, dealt with the weekly laundry and emptied out the hoover, since it will be needed on Monday again. I also made the faces of the other three cat plushies, so that was for me.

In the afternoon I talked on the phone to H. (Little Emma's grandmother) and to my friend Evie. All in all, a fairly well-used day. Now if only the TV remote would cooperate in the evening I'd be fully contented.

I so love the process of thawing out the freezer, because it´s an event that won´t happen in the near future. During the freezing winters of old we put the drawers with the frozen goods onto the terrace, where the sun did not reach them. Nowadays husband mine is quicker than light when it comes to fill any empty space that miraculously might appear in the fridge with new frozen food. A cheer to the young doctor from here, too! He must have done a fabulous job!
