... is good for the soul. ;)

So after having performed the usual Mum duties, doing a food run and dealing with the laundry, I worked a bit on the new baby book based on the YouTube video I linked to yesterday. As it is not one of those tutorial vids where they show you the method of making the item step by step, I had to figure out things on my own and made some really stupid mistakes. I managed to iron them out, but spent all the remaining morning on making one single page - the first one with the pocket. Then I got fed up with the whole thing and put it aside.

In the afternoon I actually managed to do some writing - a page and a half of Timescapes Chapter 20, but better than nothing - and then went online. I've been re-reading one of my own unfinished stories for more than an hour... and, I must admit, enjoying it. Someone ought to, right?

H - Little Emma's grandmother - sent me a couple of short videos, showing how much Emma and her big brother Theo enjoyed their gifts (namely the quiet book and the kiddie cookbook, not to mention the toddler handbag and the oven gloves). I was most pleased. It's good to see that I haven't laboured on those things for months. :)

So am I, honestly. With young children you can never be sure.

They do say that if you want to read the story, and it's not already written, do it yourself. So it makes sense that you would enjoy your own stuff. Having said that, when I do that with mine, particularly the early stuff, I end up cringing at the mistakes.

Yeah, I know the feeling. I've went through the stuff I've transferred to AO3 with what I thought was the fine-toothed comb, but even so, I find some minor mistakes by every re-read. Fortunately, you can easily edit your stuff on AO3.

It must be lovely to see that they appreciated all your hard work.

I go back and read my own stuff, too — and I'm often quite surprised that it is pretty good — and then feel as if I don't write anywhere near as well now, so it doesn't really inspire me to write, sadly.
