... aside from the religious aspect of my life, that is...

Well, I had a housewife-y day today. First, I had to make a food run. Before and after that we prepared the flat for the cleaning lady, so that she would actually find a way to the dirt. Small flat, big furniture, lots of knick-knacks... you get the picture. Then we had the scheduled cleaning frenzy, of course. After that, I had to cook for two days, since tomorrow promises to be even more hectic. Then we put the flat back into its original configuration. And by that was already 4pm.

So, does that answer the question?

The good thing of being married is that I am able to split housework between husband and cleaner then walk to my studio, close the door and do the beds. Or knit. Or read. It´s not that I won´t do housework, but some things are better left at their hands, like vacuuming or working with stinging cleaning agents, which always makes me cough- allergic asthma does that to a person.

For that you have to catch the right husband, though. I know quite a few who wouldn't move a finger at home but demand a pristine house and lots of home-made food.

All that, and expect you to have a full time job and take the lions share of child rearing!

Yeah, just that. Well, the forty years I spent with educating other people's children totally satisfied my needs in that area. And the fact that on the end of the day I could come home and have my peace (assuming Mum and Granny let me) was my greatest reward. I love children, but I love my peace and quiet even more.

Then I might have hit the jackpot! Glad about it, though you always have to keep in mind that things might not always go the way you want.

I think it's a bloody rude question to ask anybody in the first place.

Frankly, it never particularly bothered me. It only shows people's narrow-mindedness, and I don't give a flying ... about such people's opinions.

What a rude question! Ideally I guess one’s spouse would take equal responsibility for all household tasks. In reality, hmm…. It just doesn’t happen that way. Or not often enough.

Oh, I don't really mind the question. In such cases I usually pointed out that I didn't intend to take a parasite into the house; the older generation gave me enough grief. *g*

Yipes. At least the time I am spending on tidying at the moment produces visible results. Having said that...moving furniture to clean is something that happens about once a year in my house. ;)

But then you are the mistress of your house. In our flat Mum's the boss.
