... because right now sitting at the desk is a pain in the backside - quite literally. Haemorrhoids aren't the fun people think they are.

In any case, since a new baby is coming into the family, I've started the obligatory baby book. I'm keeping it fairly neutral, as we don't know yet whether it will be a boy or a girl - I can always add some small gender-specific decoration later, but I like to do the basic work in time, so that I can have a comfortable schedule. Baby is due in June or July, I think, so I'll have plenty of time.

Of course, I'm also considering a quiet book for Adri's little son, and perhaps for Gaby's as well, so this year might become really busy yet crafting-wise. We'll see.

Today we had a visit from the physiotherapist lady, for the first time in 2022. That did Mum a great deal of good. She does some exercises on her own every day, but it's not the same as a professional working her through. So it's good.

Tomorrow I'll meet Adri outside the house. We're planning to have a coffee together, and then I'll buy Mum's birthday gift and fetch the package the lovely and generous [livejournal.com profile] elwenlj sent me from the post office. Because postal services refuse to deliver packages to one's house in these days, while still taxing them shamelessly.

The mail service doesn't deliver anymore? Geez ...
Not good service!

Not small (or bigger packages), apparently. Not even larger-than-average sized letters. Although it's rather unpredictable. They delivered the book [livejournal.com profile] the_wild_iris sent me for my birthday — that was when I discovered that they're now taxing the things like there's no tomorrow!

Does it have to be gender specific though? Dinosaurs and faeries are awesome for everyone, and up until recently, pink was for boys and blue was for girls! Mind you, I suppose the parents might get weird, but it seems a shame.

Well, the two inner covers have sloths, which is pretty gender neutral, I think. And I have some leftover paper with baby boys or baby girls, depending on which side you look at — I was thinking of cutting out the babies of the matching gender and glue them on as decoration, once the big question is cleared for certain. I already walked into a trap with the coming baby's big sister who was supposed to be a boy until the last ultrasound; I'd already made a baby book with pirates and other manly things in it and had to make a girly one in a big hurry last-minute. The pirate book then went to big (then 4-year-old) cousin Theo who was very happy with it, so it didn't get wasted, but such tight schedules aren't good for my creativity. Panic rarely is. ;))

Oh, you'd have had a coronary if you'd have had made a book for our number five, because we got told it would be another boy. Only after the birth I got to know that it was a girl- and promptly told the nurse that this babe surely wasn't my child. Daughter grew up in blue. She still loves this colour...

Thanks. Unfortunately, it is a recurring problem; not a fatal one, just unpleasant.

In my house packages are delivered to the mailbox as long as they fit there, if they are too large I receive an SMS telling me where to pick it up. The part that makes me pissed sometimes is that the delivery companies have different places where packages can be picked up, if they could agree on one life would be easier. Well, as long as I do not have to go to the other side of the City it is ok.

That was the practice over here until a short time ago, too. Now they don't even bother to try!

That is truly annoying, if they have been able to put a parcel of a certain size in the mailbox before they should do so now also. Either they are scared or they do not care about the time it takes for a person to get stuff.

Delivery services are using covid as an excuse to suck. I find packages dumped in the wrong part of my apt bldg almost every day.

Everything that comes from outside the EU. There were times when I got huge cardboard boxes with books from the States and didn't have to pay a cent, but those times are apparently over.

It seems to be the new policy that everything that isn't an actual envelope counts as a package and gets treated (and taxed) accordingly. But I loved your card and the little mince pie ornament and the lovely little notebook, so it was worth it. Thank you!
