Mum had two really bad nights in a row. She couldn't sleep, first because she felt so hot (presumably due to stomach problems), then because her joints have been hurting so fiercely, due to the wet weather. In any case, this afternoon she was in a really bad shape, with nausea, cold shivers and feeling hot and pain in all her limbs (while earlier on she merrily climbed down two long flings of stairs). Finally she gave in and took an Aspirin - which worked miracles, thank God! She's currently very tired, due to all those ordeals, but feels well and rests peacefully in front of the telly.

I had a big scare, though, I tell you that!

On my side of the equation, I finally cooked something resembling to civilized food, finished Chapter 18 of Timescapes and posted it to AO3 and finished the first kiddie bag. So, there was some good mixed with the bad, but I really hope next time Mum will be more reasonable and takes medication right away. I think the root of the problem was that she felt so hot two nights ago that she sat for a while on the bed and probably caught a mild cold. I hope the Aspirin miracle will help her sleep better tonight, since it's good against pain, too. *fingers crossed*

Ich danke Dir; sie ist wieder auf den Beinen, Gott sei Dank, aber ich war wirklich erschrocken. 90 Jahre sind ein hohes Alter.

Aspirin and Paracetamol are medical science's best gift to the world.

Very true. I use this Aspirin + C tablet you throw in a glass of water, where it bubbles and dissolves — it does the trick every time. At least it has, so far. *fingers crossed*

Hopefully your mother will get better soon. And best wishes for a better 2022! Also from Valerie and Larissa, who successfully defended her thesis a month ago and can now put a "Dr" before her name.

Hopefully your mum will get better soon. Though I do not think that aspirin is the best choice if one has stomach problems. Don´t you have some ibuprofen? Works wonders also but does not irritate the stomach!

She was back on her feet within the hour. Aspirin + C worked its usual miracles and Bilagit took care of the stomach problem, which was most likely caused by a too hard boiled potato. Some of these things are capable of remaining hard even after having fallen to pieces, literally, during the boiling process.

Oh dear — your poor Mum. I'm afraid I would have taken the aspirin much sooner, but so many older people are loath to take even something fairly basic like that. I do hope she feels better again today.
