This and that from my current life, real and fannish. Nothing overly interesting, but, well, that's life for me.
1) I finally handed in all my teaching plans, despite the recent computer disaster. Go me! I'm glad they're done, I hate having unfinished work, and after deadline, at that.
2) Computer is recovering slowly. Got my Hungarian, German and English spellchecker and grammar checker installed today. Thank the Valar, the Delta Quadrant deities and the neighbour guy. Lot of things still aren't working, but I'm getting there. Slowly.
3) The hole in my finances, torn by aforementioned computer disaster is hurtful, but We'll survive. Of course, the fact that Mum might lose her job in a month or two isn't helping. But we'll manage. And, on the other hand, she is 73 years old. Well, will be in January. She deserves her retirement. Hopefully, boredom won't kill her.
4) School has been surprisingly pleasant, so far. I have three groups out of six with which I can work reasonably well. It's such a welcome change from last years' fruitless struggles. Of course, it also means more work. Lots and lots of it. And I'm not getting any younger. But this is still the better part.
5) I think I finally managed to lose some weight. I can button up my skirt without holding my breath and can sit in it without pain again. I think I'm slowly developing a waist. Well, after four months of training, it's about time, I'd say.
6) Still not much to say about the writing department. In none of my fandoms. RL stress, even the positive sort, isn't supportive for creativity. Finished Bruises, a kid Boromir vignette, and Chapter 4 of the Elfhelm story. The former is a birthday gift for Isabeau, so it'll posted somewhen in October, but the Elfhelm saga will be hold back until I'm done with it, all 12 chapters of it. Thank God, it's mostly translation work from Hungarian, but it isn't an easy thing. The only way to get a peek is to be an Edhellond member, sorry, folks.
7) I heard good news about the Gildor's Library mailing list, or whatever it'll be called. With a little luck (and less stress for the ListMom, who isn't me, so no worries), it could be up in the next month, too. More news will be posted to the Edhellond newsletter and to the Otherworlds board, once the details are worked out.
8) I got surprising feedback for Still Not in Kansas, and even more surprising feedback for my vampire AU. It's always nice to see that people actually still read my stuff. I just wish I'd have more time and more stable nerves to write more.
All in all, things aren't looking too bad. Now if the depressions stopped popping up again and again, life could be just fine.
