Firstly, heartfelt thanks to [livejournal.com profile] adafrog for the lovely Christmas card. It has just arrived today. :)

Secondly, the promised press photo of the 6th batch of the GCBF:

From the left:
Spitzbuben (basically almond biscuits with jam filling),
Hazelnut hearts,
Chocolate-walnut Financiers,
Mini orange tartlets,
Marzipan pretzels
and Coconut crescents.

Thirdly, I'm in desperate need for beta readers. The most generous [livejournal.com profile] curiouswombat declared herself willing to weed out my creative grammar in two of my Christmas gift fics, but I still have 4 that need a close eye. They are all fairly short, between 1 page and 6 pages, two of them Miss Marple and two of them Tolkien-related (The Hobbit-fics).

Update:
Three of the four fics have been picked up by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] thesmallhobbit, so there's only one Miss Marple fic that still needs some loving attention. Any takers? Please? Pretty please?

If anyone could sacrifice an hour or two, I'd be grateful. Usually, I don't mind posting un-betaed stuff, as I use both spellchecker and grammar checker and give the things several re-reads, but these are gifts, and it would be embarrassing if there were any stupid mistakes. Thanks!

I did never try the patience of beta readers when I did some writing. But since everything I targeted turned out a comedy, no matter how grave the scenario, I decided to quit writing. Not that some poor beta reader had a coronary!

I've been actively writing since the age of 12, so I think I'd go mental if I had to stop. As I said, most of the times I go without a beta, but that's out of necessity. I like it when my stuff is grammatically correct, and as I only had 3 years' worth of English lessons — even though those were intensive language courses — I'm not always certain about it.

Writing in Hungarian and German was much easier! But that was original fic, so I didn't have to fear the canon police, either.

So pretty. I tried to bake banana bread yesterday. It was a bit of a failure….

I tried to substitute almond meal for flour as I have gluten intolerance. Ground almonds do not = flour. It had a pudding type texture. It was NOT a bread or cake. I followed a recipe, but clearly their idea of a cake does not match mine.

Oh, that's annoying! But perhaps gluten-free flour would work?

It is simply my way to keep what's left from my sanity. Mum duty fills up the rest of the day.
