Also known on these shores as St. Nicholas' Day - the day when the Nicholas visits the houses and gives the children small presents.

Well, the Nicholas didn't come to our house today. Neither did our cleaning lady, who's fallen ill, the poor thing. Since everything was prepared for the bi-weekly cleaning ritual, I bit the bullet and did the cleaning myself... well, a seriously reduced version of it, but still.

The exterminators who were due to their quarter-yearly visit didn't come, either. Mum rang them and asked what was the case, since they'd promised (last Friday, on the phone) that they'll call if there's any change of plans. They didn't call. They didn't come, either. They said they'll come tomorrow. We'll see. Alas, this is something I can't do for them myself.

But the day wasn't completely wasted. I've finished Christmas Gift Fic#5 and got a - hopefully working - idea for #6, which will be the last one. [livejournal.com profile] thesmallhobbit gave me a prompt that had caused me a great deal of headache, but I think something has begun rolling now. *fingers crossed*

Today TV Paprika will show one of the Great Christmas Bake-Off programmes - I don't know which one, but I love them all, so I'll be glued in front of the screen. Yesterday they showed "A Berry Royal Christmas", which we saw for the first time and enjoyed greatly. I've got a soft spot for Prince William - perhaps because he features in some of my Torchwood stories and I feel a certain (unfounded) degree of ownership concerning him. *g*

So do I. She's a nice person and we like her very much beyond that which she does for us.

Hee, I love Prince William in your Torchwood stories. He has a nickname he’s known by — can’t think what it is.

Billy the Fish. ;) it is a genuine nickname, though. His fellow soldiers used it to protect his privacy, according to Wikipedia.

You've been quite busy, as I expected. The cookies are all lovely, look very professional — I am duly impressed. So sorry to hear about your balcony leak, I thought those days were over for you. Hope you and your Mum have happy holidays. The days are passing so quickly, it amaze me. It's been chaotic here. Ryan is in his exam period. Six 4 hour long exams spaced over a two week period. Dear husband is still out of work recovering from surgery and still cannot drive. I am his taxi, but my eyesight is so bad that I can hardly see the color of the traffic lights. I've had to put my eye surgery off twice now because it interferes with his recovery appointments. He does physical therapy every other day. Sigh. Still hanging in there, but we are all exhausted. Sorry for not commenting often, I wlll try to do better.

Don't feel obliged to comment if you aren't up to it. You've got enough problems to deal with right now. Just drop in from time to time, so that I know you're still alive and kicking. In these days a lengthy absence of a friend can be frightening. I wish you and your family all the best. *hugs*

Yep. If you've moved the stuff, may as well clean underneath it before putting it back. Frustrating, however.

The fact that the dratted exterminator still hasn't shown up is more frustrating, TBH.

Reduced house cleaning sounds good. That´s the advantage of being married- at home I do the middle part of each room, hubby the upper part and the floor. I hope your cleaning lady will be okay before Christmas, that might come handy!

I just hope she'll be okay, period. She's such a nice person, I don't like thinking of her in so much pain. I can always do another reduced house cleaning if needs must, but I really wish she'd get better — not for our sake, for hers.
