Advent, Day 5

Mum and I decided that we deserved a lazy day. So we ate leftovers and avoided any strenuous activities - save for packing things high for tomorrow's regular cleaning. I even had the time to try my idea of an angel head, made of an old CD.

The first version turned out very bizarre, so that I removed all embellishments for later and threw it into the garbage bin. Later I decided to give it another try and re-made it, and this is the result:



It is still a tad bizarre, especially with the shockingly blue googly eyes, but at least it is now recognizable as an angel... or so I hope.

Other than that, we watched the German version of the GBBO (alas, the guy I seriously dislike won this turn again), got a few lovely pictures and a video about Little Emma from H., her grandmother... and rested a bit.

Without wings I wouldn't think of an angel, she looks like a festive old lady to me :)

I tried the wings — it was horrible, as if she had two pigtails on her head or whatnot.

Well, angels are old, technically. ;))
I seriously doubt I'll ever make another one, though. CDs aren't the right base material for angels.

Aren´t angels supposed to be male? Then again, in times of feminism female angels are very wanted!

According to my studies — and I did study Catholic theology for three full years — angels are spiritual beings and therefore neither male, nor female. They've been portrayed in art as both, if I'm not mistaken... and can you tell for sure that the frightening creature above is female? 😜

I was actually surprised how many people seemed to like it. I wasn't one of those, though. *g*
But it has a good home now, so everyone is happy.
