So, I've baked the two sorts of cookies left from this week's baking plan. My masterlist is turning quite colourful, which is a nice sight. I also baked some cheesy buns because after all that sweetness we craved something savoury, and we both love those little things. Mum very much approved of the idea.

As usual, it was also laundry day, so I was occupied up to 2pm with various housewife-y things. Fortunately, we still had leftovers, so at least I didn't have to cook. Mum volunteered to do the washing-up - she usually does, the darling - and we were both done by 3pm and ready to collapse in front of the telly. Only that there was nothing for me to watch, so I chose to retreat to my bedroom and play various kinds of Solitaire on my geriatric laptop. Oddly enough, it's the only device in the house, with its terribly outdated IE browser, on which that particular game site is willing to work. Go figure!

Not much else was done. I still have to climb the ladder to the upper wardrobe and fetch the artificial Advent wreath (that has seen Granny and is therefore sacred), as well as the little wooden Bethlehem scene with its music box and illuminated inside, so that tomorrow we'll be able to properly celebrate the first Advent Sunday. Although I don't understand how has it got to be Advent so quickly...

It helps keeping what's left of my sanity; and being busy is good against the encroaching depression.

Advent isn't so much of a thing in the UK, but I shall be breaking out the Christmas decorations later. I'm certainly not leaving the house today.

It is a very big thing in Hungary, a country where the majority of practicing Christians is Catholic — with the first Sunday of Advent begins the earnest preparation for Christmas, with extra early services in the churches and all that.

Uh oh- climbing up a ladder is pure horror, at least for me. I also have a thing that has seen granny and therefore is sacred- a Wachs-Christkindl, decapitated and put in a casket made of glass. It's old, it's ugly yet it's still here....

I talked to Heidi about such things today. She said she has a very special relationship to her Christmas decoration, remembering whom she got every piece from. She even greets the individual pieces lovely at the beginning of Advent, when she takes them out of storage. :)

I find that lovely.

I forgot to mention how nice those cheesy buns sound! As for advent, the year has simply flown by.
