Another chopping day and a cookie pic
Nov. 15th, 2021 05:50 pmI've been chopping hazelnuts, cashews, pecans, chocolate, caramel bonbons, cranberries and candied ginger all morning. It was back-breaking after a while, but at least everything is prepared for the next 7 sorts of cookies. I might even add another one, so that I won't end up with 13 sorts at the end of the week. As a rule I'm not terribly superstitious, but these are not the times when one should invite bad luck. ;)
I also made a Shepherd's Pie for lunch, so I won't have to cook tomorrow, and after lunch Mum and I made a short food run to the Lidl at next corner, so I won't have to go shopping tomorrow, either. Free run for the baking!
And here are the first finished cookies:

From the left: macadamia cookies, banana cookies (the dead frogs got a straw hat with flowers to look better),
spikesgirl58's double ginger cookies (disguised as spicy red apples), hazelnut cookies, peanut-chocolate cookies and, in the front, triple orange cookies. Meaning that they contain orange peels, both fresh and candied, orange aroma and real orange juice, as well as orange blossom aroma. They are even covered with orange icing and sprinkled with orange flavoured sugar. It sounds a bit much, but they really taste fantastic, for all that they look like shapeless little pancakes.

Date: 2021-11-15 04:59 pm (UTC)I did some baking yesterday, baking bread. But it didn't go too well, the dough wouldn't rise properly and the crust ended up hard this time (which is a problem since Mom can't chew hard crusts.) No idea what I did wrong. Baking just is like that sometimes.
Tomorrow is Mom's booster shot, it will be a huge relief when that is over. She doesn't mind the vax but she hates doctor's visits, and is all nerves (which ends up making me antsy, too) for days before.

Date: 2021-11-15 06:19 pm (UTC)It's a shame we live so far from each other, though. Imagine the fun if you could hop over, sample everything I make and ignore the boring tastes of your family. ;)
