The only activity scheduled for today was to make some more popsicle snowflakes. Guess what haven't I done today? Bingo: popsicle snowflakes!

Instead, I made a felt satchel bag for toddlers, based on this video - only that mine is a grossly simplified version. Or rather mines are - because we've got two 2-year-old girls in the family (Little Emma and her cousin Milena) with only two months age difference or so between them, and they always want to have what the other one has. So I'm about to make two completely identical bags (or as identical as my total incapability in the area of measures and straight lines allows); hopefully, this way they won't be any fight over them. The first one is completed, the second one is half-done, so I consider this day a success. There will be a picture when both are done.

Other than that, I've finished the 1999-2000 time slot of the "Pathways" timeline. We ate all the leftovers from yesterday, so I had enough time to do things I actually like doing.

My friend Elise called in the morning, telling me that she's ordered the 40 eggs for the big baking frenzy. She insisted on contributing at least financially, although I never asked for it. She also insisted on buying the small mountain of margarine I'm about to use up for the (currently planned) 40 different sorts of cookies. She didn't have to do it, as I bake the things as a gift for friends and family, but it's very thoughtful of her, I find.

Oh, I now about toddler fighting more than I prefer. It´s very generous of you to make the same for both!

To be perfectly honest, the idea was born due to the fact that I've found two identical sheets of patterned felt in one of the sets I had bought somewhen during summer: two horribly purple sheets with unicorns on them. Unicorns that have rainbow-coloured manes. And the whole thing is interspersed with little stars and hearts. In other words: exactly the horribly kitschy thing little girls love so very much. Then, when I found the video mentioned in my post, I thought: why not give it a try? The girls will be happy and I will be rid of the felt without having to throw it out.

Also, I happened to buy some pom-pom ribbons at Kik, just because it looked so cute. It is a very pale pink, almost white. I used that to decorate the bags. And I dug out some identically-coloured framing ribbon that I bought but hadn't actually used for the edges of Little Emma's quiet book, and used it for the bags, too. I think they turned out well enough, all things considered. At least Mum likes them, and she isn't into kitsch, either.

You really, really have to post a picture of the bags when you are done!

I will, I promise. You know I love to show off my work — even if it's a bit... err... colourful. *g*

Edit: Picture's up. Look at the newest entry!

when my second cousin was a really little kid he automatically wanted what everybody else had EVEN IF HE HAD THE EXACT SAME THING.

That is the possibility that concerns me, too. But then it's up to the parents to solve the problem. I'm just making the gifts. 😈

That's the sort of friend to have. What a thoughtful gift to you.

She's a jewel indeed. I've got a few such friends and I'm well aware of how lucky I am to have them.
