Mum and I went to the Lidl supermarket today. I've developed a cunning plan to make mass shopping easier: we go both, fill the biggest cart there is, push the card to the entrance of our building (it isn't such a long way, at least when I'm alone, but doable even with Mum hanging onto it), take out everything from the cart, leave Mum to keep an eye on the booty, take the cart back to the supermarket, and then haul the bags and six-packs of mineral water and whatnot one by one to the lift.

So, we did that today. We were even lucky enough to meet two nice young men at the entrance who hauled the six-packs up the 12 steps to the lift for me. We're definitely going to do this again!

As for the planning: I've counted together how much flour, sugar, etc. I'll need for the Christmas baking orgy. Then I made another list of the smaller yet more price-y ingredients, to see what leftovers I still have from last year in the freezer. It turns out I won't have to buy almonds. Or walnuts. Or pecan nuts. Or pistachios. And only small amounts of hazelnuts or coconut flakes. So that part is good. I won't speak about flour, margarine, sugar and eggs just yet...

Other than that, I worked a bit on my timeline for "Pathways", managed to reach the water company to report in the monthly water consuming of the family (we do this every month) and talked to my friend Evie on the phone. All in all, a successful day.

I am done only by having to haul the groceries from the car into the house, which is a distances of ten metres (five outside, five inside). Poor you! At least you had some nice young men for help!

That really sounds like a good idea to take the cart ...
And nice you had help with the water!

Mum does induce the helper effect in most people, with her fragile shape, white hair and her crutches. *g*

I've reached the age when I can't haul as much as I did in my forgotten youth. ;)
And Mum does have this effect on most people. She's so good at being a lovely, helpless old lady...

That's a great plan!
And you even make passer-bys feel good by making them able to offer help :)

I’m glad you had help! I get my groceries delivered. The delivery is free if you purchase over a certain amount. Sadly, Aldi doesn’t have delivery. We’re finally out of Covid lockdown today!!! So I can go to Aldi again.

I don't know about where you live, but nuts of any kind other than salted peanuts are expensive here, so if you have those sorted that will certainly cut down on expense.

Good for you! Go as long as you can — things are getting worse by the day over here. I love Aldi, too.

Most of them sorted. As I've found out, I still have to buy a certain amount of them, but fortunately not too much.
