So, today was the anxiously awaited birthday party... and it was a roaring success. My two young (ex-)colleagues, who are on maternity leave, have brought their sons (both roughly one year old), and we had a grand old time running after the little ones all afternoon. One of them can already walk fairly steadily, the other is an expert crawler, and our little flat has lots of narrow, cozy little corners where the small ones could hide, so it was a riot - a happy one.

The food was appreciated and consumed to a few leftovers (which we'll eat tomorrow for lunch), and I got great gifts. First, a data stick with all six seasons of Lucifer on it. Then a paper bag full of baking ingredients, some of which I didn't even know were available under the rock where we live. Like freeze-dried and chopped strawberries and raspberries. And, because they wanted to bring me a kitchen utensil I didn't already have, they brought me a carrot sharpener. I kid you not! Apparently, this is used to make carrot chips (which I never make, but it was a joke gift anyway). And I got paid LJ time from my dear friend [livejournal.com profile] red_day_dawning. Thank you, dearest!

This was the best birthday for a very long time! And it came a day early, too! ;)

So happy you had a great and fun birthday party! You deserve it.

I love the thought of a carrot sharpener, they really do make kitchen tools for every conceivable purpose! I guess it could be good for shredding carrots to add to soups, if you were so inclined.

That's a good idea! I was at a loss what to do with the thing, as carrot chips are among the last things I'd ever waste my time making. ;)

At least you'd be able to play with it a bit that way.

You haven't missed the date. The party was held a day earlier because it was more convenient for the guests that way. :)

Happy birthday! Lovely to know you get to have a nice party and see people!

(I know I haven't been around much this year — rl has basically ended up eating all my time in an unfun way, but hopefully improving).

Thank you! It's lovely to see you back here. Perhaps [livejournal.com profile] picowrimo will make your presence more permanent? Or are the not-funny RL times still in process?

They can definitely lift everyone's spirits if they put their mind to it. :)
