Today I finally decided to go through my felt rests and throw out all the microscopic pieces I know I'd never use for anything. I'm talking about pieces the size of a thumbnail, honestly. That took about an hour and a half; before that I cut out all the bases for the tiny felt mittens I intend to sew as Christmas three ornaments. I haven't counted them, but they are a lot. The good thing with sewing small things is that one can put it away if something comes up and continue where one has left. Unlike with paper crafts, where you need lots of working space and tools and cleaning up afterwards take twice as long as the actual crafting.

In the afternoon the physiotherapist came to Mum, and after that I went to choir practice. It was very nice again; we're practicing for the Christmas concert and for the annual charity ball, which will have a Greek theme this year. I'm not sure I'll actually take part of the ball; definitely too crowded for my comfort. But practicing the songs is fun, even though our Greek pronunciation is probably outrageous; especially as we don't even understand the lyrics. But we did the same with French and Italian and Latin and at the end it worked out just fine. *g*

Singing in Greek sounds fun.

It is. The lyrics are transcribed phonetically, of course, b/c of the different alphabet, and the whole thing looks hilarious that way. You have the feeling ad if you'd sing complete nonsense. ;)

good going, to part way with those bitty scraps. I am a saver of bits of paper and decorative cording and ribbon. I rarely use them:)

I'm smiling, thinking of you wrapping your mouth around those Greek pronunciations! When I was in high school I was in a few singing groups, and once in a while we'd sing something in another language. It was fun! As a youngster, I was in the church children's choir and we sang a lot of hymns in Latin.

Latin I can deal with. I was raised a Catholic and am old enough to remember the times when Mass was still celebrated in Latin. Russian I can at least read, even though I have forgotten almost everything I learned at school. I had a few French courses as an adult, so French is doable as well. Italian is more problematic because it crams several vowels into one word part. But things like Greek or Japanese are a real pain. *g*

It's really hard to throw out scraps which might be useful for little things.

The choir sounds really good though! Singing in another language sounds a bit daunting!

Yeah, but if you haven't used up said scraps for several years, it's time to get rid of them. Besides, I only threw out the really small pieces.

Native speakers often just appreciate that you tried.

My thoughts exactly. Besides, just how much they'd actually understand from the lyrics? And who would care? They'd listen to the music, first and foremost, IMO.

Apparently, our pre-Christmas charity fair will take place this year at school. I have to start production early.

Last time I sang anything in Greek we had the words written put phonetically and I was still unsure if I pronounced it right. In the end it went well and that is the most important thing.
