Crushed hopes
Sep. 5th, 2021 06:30 pmI thought that with summer being over, we'd at least be rid of the damned gnats. It has been so nice to be able to leave the windows open in recent days, since the insulation guys had moved on to different parts of the house.
Well, today I decided to take a short nap (about 25 minutes, since Mum interfered) on my bed, with the window slightly open and the sun shining into the room, which is always nice. 20 minutes later I woke to horrible itching and counted four brand new insect bites on my left forearm and a big one on the left side of my jaw. So much about being rid of the plague. *insert gnashing teeth*
I've finished the first pair of oven mitts for Theo. I hoped to work a bit on the second pair as well but my fingers refused to cooperate. Apparently, sewing through 8 layers of fabric and lining material is only possible for a short time before getting cramps in the hands. Ah well, tomorrow is another day.
Vodafone internet is still unreliable. I have to restart my modem manually at least once a day; a couple of other times it valiantly restarts itself. It's still not a real solution, though; and my neighbour says his behaves the same way. I've had maintenance out here once already; neighbour said he'll phone them, too, to do something about the situation. I hope they'll fix it, soon, it's getting really old.
