The insulation guys came and attacked the balcony today. The side that has to be insulated now is insulated, the ceiling is painted, the side walls are drying and will apparently be done tomorrow. I'll believe when I see it.

It comes with a lot of dirt, of course, which I'll have the delight to clean up afterwards, but if the insulation really works, it will be worth it. *fingers crossed*

I am pretty sure insulation will pay off. Less hot in summer, warmer in winter...

I hope so, since I sacrificed my satellite TV to the cause.

Can I assume the crossed fingers are in hopes that it will solve the damp problem?

So, we have power again and I am finally back online after the visit from Hurricane Ida. Grocery stores, which were closed right after the storm, are open but still have limited supplies. We ate junk food for a few days as that was all that was available, made ourselves sick eating chips and such. The shelves are slowly being re-stocked with better foods. As to life and property, aside from a terribly messy yard, all is fine. The house and trees/people stayed up/intact. We were in a hotel for the worst of the storm and near dusk, the power at the hotel failed. I was quite surprised that the hotel did not go on generator power. Even more surprised to learn the hotel did not have a generator! I thought they all did. The rest of our stay we were in the dark: without power. air conditioning, or lights, except the flashlights on our cell phones — spooky. The front desk clerk said the hotel was on the same grid as the nearby hospitals, so power should be restored within 30 minutes. Yeah, I guess the clerk is still dreaming. We left the hotel the next day, and 5 days later, that hotel was still without power. The good news, is after our power at home was restored, we also had internet! Before, with Cox as our provider, it would be anywhere from 2 weeks to a month after the electric power was restored before Cox repaired the cable. With AT&T, we are on buried optic fiber, 100% improvement.

That was the latest on my end. Glad they finally got around to your balcony. Hope it does the trick and it leaks no more!
