Especially if it means that the family-specific weak stomach raises its ugly head again. I think I'll have to delete scrambled eggs and créme freche (=sour cream) from the menu. Too bad; I dearly love both. But they aren't worth the annoyance they've been causing lately. 'nuff said.

The building insulation is going on speedily. We were afraid that they won't be able to work today because of the rain and the strong winds last night, but they did. True, the weather settled eventually, and now it's fairly hot again; and the brown paper only darkens the rooms when the sun doesn't shine directly at the windows. So yeah, living conditions are still far from ideal, but at least we've got through the rain last night without leakage. Perhaps they've stuffed the leak somewhere over our heads? That would be grand. But I won't put my hopes too high just yet.

Well, it was to be expected. Grandma had them, Mum has them, and this is usually the age when they start in the family. *sigh*

Ugh. I hear you on the having to cut things out. I can't drink coffee at all, and can only have pepperoni once every few months.

That must be terrible — a life without coffee! *shudders*

So do I, honestly. Since I've lost my satellite TV, I ought to have gained something in exchange.

It always seems to be the things we like best that begin to unsettle the stomach as we age :( S2C can no longer eat apple pie, which was his favourite dessert. And I have a cousin visiting this afternoon who I haven't seen for over 2 years (he lives off-island), and I remember that there are things he cannot now eat — but have forgotten what they are!

No apple pie anymore? The fates are truly cruel!

It's good that they're getting on with it quickly.

I hope you are not prone to gall stones! Because that´s the way it started in my case, having problems when eating eggs and certain dairy goods....

Oh dear, I hope not! I actually can eat boiled eggs, and I'm still not entirely sure that the scrambled ones were part of the problem. The creme freche is more like it... it was involved twice in digestive problems lately. Or it was a coincidence. But I know that Grandma started replace creme freche with Kefir in her last years because she could no longer eat the former without it causing problems. A shame, I used to eat it with a tablespoon, just for the fun of it, I like it so much...
