It's Mum's description of the current state of our flat, so I'm not taking any responsibility.

The thing is, we asked that in the process of the building insulation, they do our balcony as well. (If you have a closed balcony, you have to hand in an extra request. Which we did.) They put notes into our mailbox about the progress and what has to be done in terms of preparation work and by when.

The latest piece of info was that we had to clear out the balcony by August 9. So Mum and I (that is, practically me) spent two days with carrying the dishes from the small cupboard that we keep on the balcony into the living room.

And the stools and the big armchair.

And the small, very impractical round tea table Mum has gained in a bout of temporary insanity.

And the small book-cabinet.

And the gift bags Mum has collected during the last decade(s).

And the empty jars I usually keep there for the cases when I need to store something moth-safe.

And the artificial monstrosity that now serves as our Christmas tree.

All of these were stored rather tightly on the 1mx4m balcony, for the simple reason that there wasn't room for them anywhere else. Now they are evenly spread all over the living room, the anteroom and my study. And then the new note arrived in our mailbox, telling us that the deadline is now August 14. Meaning that we'll have to spend an extra week in this chaos unnecessarily. Joy!

Other than that, we're getting by. We have better days and worse days; lately more of the worse ones. We've been struggling with stomach problems again. I'm tending to think that [livejournal.com profile] noadvertising was right - the dratted vaccine must have trashed our stomachs. I mean, I haven't eaten anything I didn't eat previously, without any problems. I used to have a fairly strong stomach. And no, I don't think it has too much to do with getting older. Ah, well, hopefully it will right itself sooner or later. Sooner would be nice, though.

Not to worry you or anything, but stomach aggro is a symptom of covid, (including diarrhoea.) Having said that, if it is covid, your vaccines seem to be doing their job, and you must be building up strong antibodies!

God, i hope so! It isn't all the time, thank God, we have weeks in-between when we're back to normal, then it pops up for a few days again. Bleh!

Getting a weak stomach with advanced age is normal in our family — Grandma had it, Mum has it — but I don't feel quite that advanced at the age of 65 yet. It would be ironic if it were covid, seeing how careful we have been, with double vaccination and masks and self-isolation to a degree few other people did...

Yes, it would be unlikely, you've been pretty careful. Gah on the poopy poop though. :(

I would be really pissed if I got the dratted virus — after all, I sacrificed a year and a half of normal living to avoid it!

Oh dear ... very poor planning on their part.
At least the work is done!

That's definitely one of the advantages. The other being that we've actually thrown out a few things.

It is always the same approach with renovation work teams: their deadlines given to you are never ever correct. I think that´s irresponsible. I hope you will feel better soon. Have you consulted a doctor because of the never-ending reoccurence of your health problem? One person with stomach problems- okay, will happen. Two at the same time? Can happen, too. But two at the same time so often is definitely way above normal!

I hate, hate, hate living in an untidy space. (I'm OK with dusty, just not messy.) My craft room gets used as a dumping ground, because I don't use it every day. But when I do want to use it, the first thing I do is tidy, because I just can't work in a mess.

I'm quite fastidious myself — not that I'd have much choice. The flat is so small and so full with furniture meant for earlier, much bigger places that the only possibility to exist is to keep strict order. It is especially annoying at crafting, as I waste twice the time to dig out things I need and then put them away than with the actual crafting.

Sorry to hear you and Mum are under the weather again, and about all the renovation/repair woes. Hoping you have better days ahead.
