A change of plans
Jul. 26th, 2021 05:50 pmMy friend Evie and I planned to go to a discount craft shop that's fairly close to us; only that it's in the back yard for some enormous industrial/cargo area, and it takes forever to walk back there. However, Evie has a car, with which we can reach the container (in which the shop is situated) in five minutes, tops.
But then Evie had to work yesterday like a pack horse to help her husband tear down part of their fence that has to make room for a new road built in front of their house. So she was fairly dead by the evening and we decided to postpone the trip for tomorrow... unless something happens again. I hope it won't. *fingers crossed*
Using the time thus freed for me, I made the first food run of the week, mostly for mineral water, ginger ale, ice cream and the likes. Okay, I bought potatoes and bread and some cold cuts as well... and exactly two apples. Apples are ridiculously expensive this year. More so than generally everything else. *sigh*
There's talk about us getting a third Covid jab at the end of August. I'll believe it when I see it. Hopefully we'll get a slot that will be doable in spite of the big renovation insanity taking place at the same time.
What else? No writing today, but I've finished the page bases to I's baby book. Now I can start with the embellishments, folded cards, pockets and whatever else I think of until November.
Oh yes, and it's hot again. 35°C, apparently. Well... still better than thunderstorms, right?

Date: 2021-07-26 04:17 pm (UTC)I hope the trip works out for you tomorrow. Gotta get these things out of the way while restrictions are lifted (I need to find the time for a trip downtown, too)

Date: 2021-07-27 01:08 pm (UTC)Oh yeah and here we are also having talk of third jab, though it currently looks like the BionTech folks (which both I and parents received) will only get one for risk groups. Politicians aren't too happy at the prospect of splurging for another round.

Date: 2021-07-27 03:12 pm (UTC)Back in late spring, there was actually a lot of pressure here by state politicians to buy Sputnik, with some wealthier states even saying they would buy and fund it themselves if the national government won't, but states don't have the authority to get it authorized for use, and neither the European nor the national level would give an emergency permit.

Date: 2021-07-27 02:12 am (UTC)35 degrees? Ugh, too hot. We’ve been cold here, the nights around 1 degree or 0. Unusual for our coastal Melbourne.

Date: 2021-07-27 06:51 am (UTC)Honestly I'd take thunderstorms over the heat any day. But I can understand how you dont want to have to deal with your balcony leaking.
