I got up in time for a change, only to discover that the BR channel took of one of the zoo reports I usually watch with half an eye while putting my room in order etc. I was not happy, but there was nothing I could do. So, to put the time thusly freed to good use, I sat down and painted the still naked side of my 48 popsicle sticks. Every single one of them.

And a good thing it was that I did because the rest of the morning turned out a total waste. Mum's pension was due to come today (she insists on getting it delivered in cash), so we were waiting for the postman. And waiting. And waiting.

I needed to go out and buy my monthly ticket, so I got dressed for that relatively early, hoping that the guy will arrive in some reasonable time. Well. He arrived at half past two (!) in the afternoon. So I went out when the weather was the hottest, as it couldn't be left for tomorrow. On my way home I did some minor shopping, too, but not enough. I'll have to go out on Friday or Saturday again.

At least I managed to pull my act together and did a good chunk of transcribing. Part 3 of the "Pathways" timeline is coming around nicely. Anyone interested in Kindred: the Embraced, Poltergeist: the Legacy, Buffy and Angel can take a look at it over at [livejournal.com profile] hiddenrealms. Yes, this is what people call SSP (=shameless self-promotion). *g*

You must show us the result of your popsicle work when finished, please! Did you know that there are already videos for Christmas decoration 2021 on Youtube? And I feel with you, I, too, hate it when they alter TV programme. Or Amazon Prime video. For weeks I have read the Gruffalo to Cassian, now that he knows the story I wanted to watch the film with him- now guess what has been dropped?

Don't worry, I'm a show-off, so there will be enough pictures once I've made some progress.
There are Christmas videos? Do you have a keyword, so that I can take a look?
And yeah, they always drop the stuff you like most. I hope BR will return to the right way — sometimes they alter the programme for one day only — but I'm not overly optimistic.

I only typed in Christmas 2021, and immediately found some. I have to admit that I did not want to watch those in July, but I also have to admit that I do so regularly from October on... You have to be prepared for what's to come!

That is true. Being prepared is very important. ;)

That sucks that BR took down the program. I love these zoo shows too.

Yeah, I don't know why Querbeet would be more important than the animals of the Wilhelma, but again, what do I know?

Surprising BR drops programmes, I'm more used to that from Pro7, SAT1 etc.

Me, too. It is not frequent, but it does happen.

Cash by post sounds a bit... risky.

It is fairly normal here, actually. Mum's generation is a bit old-fashioned.

BR = Bayerischer Rundfunk, one of the German regional channels.

I have been waiting in vain for a small package from the USA. Today is the last day of the proposed delivery window.

My mother refused, right to the end, to have her pension paid into her bank account. As she pointed out, she couldn't get out of the house to get it out from either the bank or a cash point machine, and so would have needed to give details to someone else to get it — exactly what they tell you not to do :(

Mum simply doesn't feel safe without at least some cash in the house. Considering that we pay the physiotherapist, the chiropodist, the cleaning lady and whatever repairs the janitor and his crew do in cash, I can't blame her for that.

Yes — I agree with her — I have the advantage of being able to go to a cashpoint only about 250m away, or get cashback when I shop — but if you can't get out of the house that is not an option.

Cash in the mail is highly discouraged here.

My grandmother, God rest her soul, grew up during the depression. She never trusted banks, so would hide cash in pill bottles around her house, in case of emergency.
