We expected the chiropodist lady today, so I got up an hour earlier to make my food run. Spent a lot of money on surprisingly little stuff, but that's the way of things since Covid had pushed food prices into high heavens.

In any case, I bought some ingredients for Mary Berry's Panang chicken stir-fry. I didn't get celery, but it's too hard for Mum anyway; and without it, the dish was a great success.

The chiropodist lady talked us to the death, as usual, generously sharing her political opinions. Which are the polar opposite of ours; after a decade and a half she actually ought to know that by now. She's either not very bright, or she still hopes to convert us. It's very annoying anyway, but you won't find many people who'd come to the house - a necessity now that Mum can't go out yet.

In the afternoon, the janitor came by to fix the leaking tap in the bathroom. With a handyman in tow. So, today we had more people in the flat than we usually have in a week. None of them was wearing a mask, of course. :/

We had a tiny bit of rain today; enough to turn the entire area into a sauna, not enough to cool down the air significantly. Still, no hailstorm or whatnot, so we're grateful... although, based on the strong wind we're having right now, we still aren't entirely safe yet.

Due to the events listed above, writing didn't really happened today. I was completely brain dead. But I did some preparatory work for my popsicle crafting, namely painting tiny (1 cm diameter) cardboard stars to different colours with the help of acrylic pens. So the day wasn't a complete waste, after all.

Any sort of converting makes my hackles raise. Here we always have the religious sort done by my husband´s siblings...I could send you some rain, I think we had enough of it last night. Maybe you´d want some thunderstorm also? I have been up till three in the morning with all that thunder and lightning thing!

Thanks, but at the moment it's raining copiously over here, too. I think the balcony's organized it; it wants to have a good leakage before the building would be properly insulated.

How annoying of the chiropodist — and even more annoying that she would not be easily replaced.

I hadn't tried that Mary Berry recipe — I do something a bit similar to eat in tortillas, but her version with rice sounds very good. I'd probably skip the celery, too.

It is a yummy recipe; quick an easy to make, and Mum can eat it, so — double win!

I'm sorry the grocery stores are gouging you. They're not doing it here.

Good for you! I'm glad to hear that there still are decent people on other parts of the planet.

You can have all the rain from here!
We couldn't do the sightseeing tour in Erfurt this afternoon because it was chugging it down.

Actually, we had rain in spades later on, the balcony dutifully leaked a bit , which made the day just perfect. [/sarcasm]

Sorry about the sightseeing tour. That must have been annoying.

I hate, hate, hate people not wearing masks. How selfish. And why do people feel compelled their offensive political views? What a day you had!

Well, our fearless leader has declared that since half the population has been vaccinated, masks are no longer mandatory, and most people are just idiots.

Colouring stars sounds like a nice occupation to watch TV or listen to music by.

Except that I need a hard, horizontal surface for that, so those background activities are out of question.
Never mind, though, I've done all 72 stars in the last three days, so that's one step into the right direction.

The truth is, there was more than a little rain later in the afternoon; in fact, is poured like whoa, there were puddles on the street of the size of Lake Balaton, and the dratted balcony leaked a bit, too... Fortunately, the upcoming strong winds dried up everything by the morning.

That's not the best kind of rain unless the garden really needs it. At least there was wind to dry, although the kind of wind we had here yesterday made me glad I wasn't camping in a tent in it. Very gusty!

We don't have a garden in need of rain. We live on 53 square metres of concrete, which includes the leaking balcony.

Oh, that's right! The leaky balcony! I forgot you have to deal with that. Ugh. That's no fun at all.

Oh man, having to listen to her political opinions sounds like such a pain. Alas that you are reliant on her right now.

Hopefully there won't be enough rain for your balcony to start leaking again. Did the leaking tap get sorted out? Ours has been leaking too and after first me and then Mom being sick, this week I finally bugged the landlord about it, but that was a bust. He was here a couple of times but his entire "fixing" it was to run water for a while and when that didn't help he shrugged and said to leave it.

Food prices have gone up here, too. On top of that, you can still feel that supply lines are not back to normal, you always have to grab whatever is available, and often that is the expensive brands. I have learned to buy two of everything when available, the Covid food stash has become permanent /sigh

We had some leakage but nothing dramatic, thank God! In other places there was considerable damage, it's said, due to hail pieces the size of a fist raining down. The weather has really gone crazy this year! Just one way our lives have changed recently — and not for the better, I'm afraid! See: food prices and other Covid-related sh*t.

Prices for everything have increased since Covid, except salaries, of course. I don't work, but my husband still does. Luckily, he has not had to take a cut in pay.
