28°C in the darkened flat (we had all Venetian blinds down from late morning on), 32-33°C outside - or so the telly says. We didn't go out. Well, not any further than the rubbish chute at the end of the corridor. That's Mum's daily walk. She does half the distance using her crutch only. She's a fighter.

We also prepared the lovely cherries my friend Evie brought us on Friday to be frozen. Mum didn't dare to eat them raw as they were a tad hard (although very yummy), so we put them into the freezer for later. I made some cherry ragout from a couple of handful of them, to go with today's Topfenknödel.

The rest of the day will be spent with preparations for tomorrow's cleaning frenzy, which will include the windows, too. Joy! The best weather for such efforts, right?

I did a tiny bit of crafting early in the morning, though.
Here are Pages 24 and 25 - the latter with the flap closed because the inside is still unfinished:

The recipe in the foreground will go into the pocket on the left.

Oh yes, and thanks to the nice, hot weather, the goddamned bugs have crept out of hiding again - so it's killing time in the house!

Yuck, bugs! The only bugs we have in the house are weevils brought in from outside with the olive trees. They are small, they are harmless, and best thing is they are extremely dumb. They always end up on the doorframe, where they run up and down all day long, until I pick them up for disposal.

These... things have only been here for the last couple of years; definitely not indigenous ones. They are quick, they get in everywhere, and they stink like a bus when squashed. I'm considering wearing a mask for the safari.

When you wrote about the stink I thought you talked about bugs, because once we had some which stank indeed when getting squashed. Those we killed by the help of nematodes. But gnats you can either squash or convert your flat into a greenhouse by the use of tomato plants. Tomatos gnats are not in love with...

Just below 30° here today but it's so humid it almost feels worse than earlier this week.
I'm just out of the shower and I can't get dry .., meh!
Definitely not the best weather for cleaning.

We do have help with the bi-weekly cleaning frenzy, but that doesn't make me hate the whole thing any less.

And here I am with the fire lit because it's gone cold and wet out. *sigh*

Great progress, as always.

Thank you. :)
The annoying thing with the weather is that nice, warm, sunny (but not hot) spring weather hasn't been this year at all!
It was either too cold or too hot. I'm very much a spring and autumn person, hate any extremes.

We didn't get much in the way of spring either. Some hot days in March, snow in April followed by a short warm spell, rain through most of May. We got a couple of weeks of warmish weather at the start of this month, but then it turned wet and cold.

Wow! That's hot! I hope it's not that warm when you have to do the cleaning.

Actually, it was even warmer, since you can't clean the windows when they're closed, so we had to let the midday heat into the flat. It was... unpleasant to the extreme.

Cleaning is only appreciated after it is over. The weather here has been crazy. May, a month that is usually bright and sunny, had record setting rain totals, which carried into June. I miss the sunshine. Hope your cleaning goes quickly without mishap, and all the bugs disappear. We've had an influx of foreign bugs, too.

Since we keep the windows closed during daytime, few of the bugs actually manage to get in. But I hate them nonetheless.

What is cherry ragout, please? A sort of jam or pastry or... stew?

It is simply cherries cut in halves or quarters, cooked with a bit of sugar and spices of your choice and then thickened with corn starch or gelatine.

Oh I've eaten that! I think it was called something different, but there's a recipe from Boke of Gode Cookery which is medieval which has something like that. It was absolutely amazing!
