One would think Sunday was predestined to have peace and quiet and generally the day of rest. One would be mistaken.

I had to take down the laundered clothes in the morning and put them away.

Then I had to take care of several things in the kitchen; small things, as I don't have to actually cook for today and tomorrow, but time-consuming nonetheless.

Then I had to put the books we decided to keep back into the safe-after-all bookshelf and get rid of the rest. That, again, cost me a considerable amount of time and effort, especially as my back and arms still hurt from the food runs of yesterday. (I opted to make only two runs; in exchange I had to carry more stuff.)

Then I had to take out the vacuum cleaner and empty it, as the cleaning lady is coming tomorrow. Wearing a mask was actually a blessing with this. I'll have to pile every removable thing onto every available surface later on, so that the cleaning lady can move around freely and do her job.

Add the usual Mum duty and you'll admit that this particular Sunday had nothing to do with peace and quiet. Or with resting. Well, at least I got to watch the German version of the GBBO. That's always a delight. And I managed to squeeze in half an hour of writing. Not much, but I've learned to appreciate small blessings.

Yes, that would be a good thing right now. Not gonna happen, though.

Due to my depression and medication issues I generally find it difficult to just get up and face the day. When I finally do, tho, there just isn't enough time to address everything that needs doing. Right now there are still dishes that need washing and laundry to be done. I already did two days worth of dishes this evening (it sits building up day after day due to our mutual irresponsibility) but we need clean towels. I'll have to do that tomorrow because I'm not going up and down the basement steps with a laundry basket after 10pm. Everyone else already went to bed, so what if I fall? No-one would know til tomorrow! See how I rationalized that? I'm terrible! lol

That sounds like one of those days that nobody knows about, unless you don't do it.

Trust me: they were horrible books. I read a few of them in my youth and was either disgusted or bored to death. They were also printed on low-quality paper that turned yellow or even brown in the meantime, so not even the charity shop would take them.

I often do sort out my books. Good to have a once-call-box-now -mini-library near, where I can put those I won´t keep . Free-from-work Sundays are overrated, that´s the rule for you, so it seams. At least you were able to further upgrade your impressive baking skills!

I also prefer to give away books I don't want to keep, but no second-hand shop, not even charity would take these. The cheap paper they were printed on has become yellow or brown and although they were in a pristine condition, they looked as if they'd been dirty.

That's the good thing with those booths, because you put the books onto the shelves and leave. There's always someone who is glad to have new stuff for reading.

I wish we had something like that in close vicinity. I feel bad about throwing out books — even the ones I don't like.
