Mad Friday

Today's bullet list:

* I made cheesy buns. In case someone still doesn't know, they are the guys in the middle of the picture (I didn't take a new photo since they look exactly like this):

* I also made strawberry jam. The strawberries I bought on the market yesterday didn't live up to our expectations, so I put them to other use.

* I rasped apples, bananas, some strawberries and added some leftover pink grapefruit segments (the inner skin removed) to the mix, as well as yogurt and muesli. Now we'll have our vitamin bomb for breakfast for the next three days.

* I fried fish and boiled potatoes for lunch.

* I washed up several times

The nice parts of the day:
(although baking is nice...)

- The janitor finally showed up with his handyman and they judged our book cabinet safe. Apparently, it the hangings are still stable (the handyman put his entire weight on them and they didn't give in); it's probably the wood itself that has changed in the decades in-between, so that it doesn't lie snugly on the wall, but we don't have reason to worry. I hope they are right.

- I talked to four (ex-)colleagues on the phone, which was very nice. I miss my girls terribly.

- I also talked to IT guy (my neighbour), who promised to help me renew the licence of my antivirus programme before it runs out in a week or so. Phew! That's a relief. I'm not technically savvy and always need help with such things.

That’s a busy day. Cheesy buns sound delicious. Good news about the bookshelves.

How great to have a tech savvy neighbour. Also great news re the book shelves. You can sleep peacefully and clear the sitting room of book piles.

We've decided to get rid of a bunch of books no-one has ever read. I'm looking forward to it.

If they say so... I'm still not 100% sure about that, but I hope they know their shit.

In case my antivirus program tells me that I have to renew the license I do nothing at first. Usually it will keep running. If not, I will deinstall and rinstantly reinstall it, or go for a better one which is free.

Alas, I'm technically challenged... to put it mildly. I need help with the simplest things... *sigh*

Hmmm. The only hint of unpleasantness I could find was having to wash up several times after the baking and cooking:) Although baking and cooking is a lot of work!

I meant the safety of the bookshelf.

Oh yes! I forgot to say, what a relief it is for that bookshelf to be secure!!

Years ago a shelf crashed down in my kitchen but nowhere near anyone. It was quite a shock. I shudder to think of being hit by the bookshelf!

When we migrated from Transylvania to Hungary, back in 1965, Mum felt exalted to be able to buy Hungarian books. She bought a bunch that she never actually read; in my forgotten youth I read some of them and found them utterly boring (the Sinclair Lewis ones) or way too full of sex scenes (the Jorge Amado ones). Also, they've been printed on low quality paper, so that their pages have become yellow or brown in the decades in-between, so that no second-hand bookshop would buy them. I'll pack them together and take down to the selective paper bin.
