I had to buy my monthly card for mass traffic, and since the rather unreliable card machine on the corner now only accepts credit cards, I had to take the bus and travel half the district to the next office of the traffic company. I didn't trust the machine not to swallow my credit card. Strangely enough, I never had such concerns when in Austria...

Ah, well, in October I'll turn 65, which means I'll be able to use every tram, bus and even the trains within Hungary for free. Getting old does have its advantages - even if there won't be much travelling in the foreseeable future, unfortunately. :(

On my way to the ticket office I drop in at the school and ordered my eggsies. I also visited a homeopathy shop and bought some stuff. They'd run off of argan oil but ordered me some for next week. Since I'll have to fetch my eggsies on Tuesday anyway and school is only two streets from the shop, that will be doable.

Schools are still half-closed over here, meaning that the lover primary classes are having real-life tuition while the upper primary is still online. So I only met two (ex-)colleagues from safe distance while at school. Still, it was good to see Edith and even speak a few words with her.

On my way home I paid the Allee shopping centre a brief visit; meaning the Lindt chocolate show where I bought Mum's present for Mother's Day: a moderately large bag of selected Lindor balls. It's a lucky coincidence that Lindt happened to have one of their sales and I got the chocolates 20% cheaper and the two mini chocolate rabbits I also bought for half the price. Yay!

I crossed the market while going to the tram and bought some strawberries for an acceptable price. They still aren't the local ones, I think, but at least less hard and with just a tad more aroma than the Spanish ones. Still, I think I might make more jam tomorrow. *g*

In the afternoon we had another visit from the physiotherapist, who's very satisfied with Mum's headway, and I had two nice, long phone calls with two (ex-)colleagues. Erna (who is our art teacher and a very crafty person) and I agreed that if we live long enough to see the end of this Covid misery, she'll help me re-learn knitting and crocheting. That would be lovely.

It sounds like a productive day :)

Oh I love those Lindor balls. Especially the white chocolate and strawberry ones, but all of them are delicious.

Our children are almost all back at school at present — the exception being one school year group of the primary school in the north of the island, where a child has tested positive for covid, so the whole year plus teacher are now at home awaiting testing. If we ever get back to what we thought was normal, I think some of these children will find full time school quite strange.

And they'll tell their own kids and grandkids: "You know, kiddo, when I was your age, we had to learn through the internet and everyone was wearing masks and you couldn't just go wherever you wanted and meet whomever you wanted..."

A very busy day. I’d like to learn how to crochet, but the truth is I would probably start a project and never complete it. The only hobby I ever continued with was jewellery making, and I can no longer do that.

Why not? Are the fingers no longer cooperating? That is sad.

My hands shake constantly. And my vision is poor. Jewellery requires fine control.

I'm sorry to hear that. :(( The feeling is familiar, though. I was thinking of decorating some more eggshells this year but chickened out, fearing that my hands wouldn't be light and stable enough for such delicate work anymore.

I think school here is similar ... the little ones are in, classes that have exams are in ...
But as of Saturday the revised pandemic law will be in effect and that says if the incidence is > 165 schools have to be online.
Guess what ... the incidence is higher than that in most parts of the country.
So — kids have been back for all of one week after the Easter holidays. Great.

Things are rather ad hoc over here, too. Everyone gets to have a word when decisions about schools are made — except the teachers who have to take the risk.

So glad that your mum is making progress! But isn´t it a sad thing that so many of us fear that this Covid nuisance will last forever?

Depressing, isn't it? I still haven't given up hope yet. I firmly believe that one day I'll board that RailJet and visit you. Be warned. ;))

What do you use the argan oil for? I used to use it on Freya's hair when she still had it long. Mine, too but I've since changed to macadamia oil.
