After the most recent baking disasters I began to worry seriously that I might have lost my baking mojo, too, not just my writing mojo. So I decided that I must restore my honour and bake something of yeast dough that's not only pretty but also very, very yummy. I used an old, well-probed recipe and the result is an almond wreath. Well... the almonds are only the decoration, otherwise it's just a simple yeast dough. But boy, does it taste heavenly!

I also recycled the rest of the Easter ham, cutting it into tiny pieces, mixing it with boiled pasta, sour cream and grated Emmenthaler cheese and baking it in the oven. It was yummy. I ate two portions of it. *ducks in shame* What can I say? I was tired and hungry, after cooking and baking all morning... not to mention washing up approximately three or four times. (It is a small kitchen; if I don't keep washing up stuff, I won't have enough room to do anything else.)

By the way, I still have five embroidered cards to give away! If you're interested, go back one entry and calm any of the still free ones that catch your eye. C'mon, folks, let me make a small gift and bring a smile onto your faces!

See ... I can't do a yeast dough.
Guess I'm just too impatient for that!

The trick is to make the dough, put it somewhere to rise and leave it alone. By the time you've finished all the other housework, the dough has doubled its volume and you can shape it any way you want. *g*

That looks lovely. I do something similar with pasta and left over ham sometimes except, of course, as a Brit my go-to cheese is mature cheddar.

But for the next few days sour cream and baked goods are out — my weight is creeping up again and a few days of very good behaviour is required :(

That looks good indeed. A nice cup of coffee on the side... I'd be all set :)

That is exactly how we ate it... with just a little bit of butter. :)

Your baking skills are rarely less than awesome and I'm happy you've reclaimed your passion.

So am I, believe me! Baking was always a comfort activity for me, it would be really bad to lose the joy of it.

It was yummy, too! We gobbled it up in a mere two days. *g*
