Kitchen duty, crafting woes and the likes
Mar. 10th, 2021 05:12 pmI cooked for two days today. Which is actually nice... on the second day when I don't have to cook. Today, it was simply endless and exhausting and generally an annoyance. I love to bake, but cooking, especially interspersed with the repetitive washing-up... ugh, no.
Writing was out of the question, brain dead as I was by the early afternoon. But I thought a bit of paper embroidery might be possible. I chose a pattern from the ones I had pre-punched yesterday, thinking it would be easy. Well... it wasn't. I had to undo the whole thing and start from the beginning. 1/4 or even less into the card I gave up for today. This is supposed to be relaxing, not another source of frustration.
Otherwise we're doing well enough. I managed to change my e-mail address at a very official website (the one called government window, where all the important stuff arrives, from the tax office and other such pleasant places). It was a bit complicated, even though the nice customer service lady sent me an e-mail with idiot proof instructions, but I think it works now. I hope.
Mum called the exterminators and the guy at the phone promised to look up why they didn't come and then call back. Err... yes. That was about an hour ago. If he doesn't Mum will call them again tomorrow. Unlike me with my phobia about calling strangers on the phone, Mum is very good at this. So yeah. Let's hope she can get them here. We've got a contract with them, after all.

Date: 2021-03-10 05:55 pm (UTC)The odd thing is, we've had the contract with this company for years, and there never were any problems... until 3 months ago when they played the same trick on us. The whole thing is profilactic anyway, but it makes us feeling safer where Ungeziefer are concerned. Still, if they keep doing this we might not renew the contract when it runs out.

Date: 2021-03-10 10:19 pm (UTC)They block them without forwarding them to our inboxes, and so the government send us stuff but we don't get it. Like the confirmation of our vaccination appointments — it is a good thing the girl phoned us and said we 'might get the email confirmations, but manx.net is blocking a lot of them, so if you don't get it don't worry'!!

Date: 2021-03-11 08:23 pm (UTC)Manx.net brought in a UK contractor to run their mail service a couple of years ago, and it has never been as good since. But the thought of trying to change my address is more that I can really face.
