I cooked for two days today. Which is actually nice... on the second day when I don't have to cook. Today, it was simply endless and exhausting and generally an annoyance. I love to bake, but cooking, especially interspersed with the repetitive washing-up... ugh, no.

Writing was out of the question, brain dead as I was by the early afternoon. But I thought a bit of paper embroidery might be possible. I chose a pattern from the ones I had pre-punched yesterday, thinking it would be easy. Well... it wasn't. I had to undo the whole thing and start from the beginning. 1/4 or even less into the card I gave up for today. This is supposed to be relaxing, not another source of frustration.

Otherwise we're doing well enough. I managed to change my e-mail address at a very official website (the one called government window, where all the important stuff arrives, from the tax office and other such pleasant places). It was a bit complicated, even though the nice customer service lady sent me an e-mail with idiot proof instructions, but I think it works now. I hope.

Mum called the exterminators and the guy at the phone promised to look up why they didn't come and then call back. Err... yes. That was about an hour ago. If he doesn't Mum will call them again tomorrow. Unlike me with my phobia about calling strangers on the phone, Mum is very good at this. So yeah. Let's hope she can get them here. We've got a contract with them, after all.

That's pretty cool there's a website with all your important info — we are not that ... modern.

That´s the problem with craftspersons and tradespersons; as long as you do not have a contract they will come, to not lose their new clients. Things will change drastically if the contract is signed. Then you will have to wait...and wait some more. Fingers crossed that your mum will be able to light a fire under them!

I trust her to do just that...

The odd thing is, we've had the contract with this company for years, and there never were any problems... until 3 months ago when they played the same trick on us. The whole thing is profilactic anyway, but it makes us feeling safer where Ungeziefer are concerned. Still, if they keep doing this we might not renew the contract when it runs out.

I dunno, the website usually confuses the hell out of me.

We have an added weirdness — emails from our government (@gov.im) are frequently blocked by our email provider the equally local manx.net :(

They block them without forwarding them to our inboxes, and so the government send us stuff but we don't get it. Like the confirmation of our vaccination appointments — it is a good thing the girl phoned us and said we 'might get the email confirmations, but manx.net is blocking a lot of them, so if you don't get it don't worry'!!

That is truly ridiculous! That negates the very reason of getting e-mails from the government. Is there no-one at manx.net who could iron out the bug?

I know — I presume the government are trying to do something about it as they clearly know.

Manx.net brought in a UK contractor to run their mail service a couple of years ago, and it has never been as good since. But the thought of trying to change my address is more that I can really face.

Two day cooking is always more fun on the second day especially, if like me, you have salad for another meal. I always have salad the day after my shopping arrives. Salad is so easy.

We usually have salad as a side dish. This time I've managed to cook so much that we'll have a midday meal out of it for a third time, too. Yay!
