New week, new joys
Feb. 15th, 2021 06:57 pmThe physiotherapist was here today. She showed a lot of exercises we must do between her visits; it promises to be hard work. For Mum, mostly, but also for me. But it is doable. Or so I hope.
We might be able to solve the mattress problem this week, too. My cousin found a Ltd. that deals in rubber foam articles. If we are lucky, we can order a big piece of 7cm thick, medium hard rubble foam, which we then can cut in half and it will fit onto Mum's bed. *fingers crossed* That way she'll have a more solid layer under her, which hopefully will make getting up as well as in-bed exercises a lot easier.
Her appetite begins to recover, slowly. We are trying our luck with soft foods, like cooked apples, digestive biscuits, chicken broth and toast. Today she asked for some ham for the first time: the soft, not-spicy one. I'll chop it into microscopic pieces and spread them on buttered toast. Hopefully, she'll be able to stomach it.
Other than that, not much is happening. Mum-duty pretty much eats the whole day, but I'm more than happy to do it. This morning I got to do some sewing, at least, while sitting next to her in the room. She really enjoyed it. And now we're going to watch Cake Boss together.

Date: 2021-02-15 08:39 pm (UTC)The soft food diet makes sense, and if Mum will tolerate it, maybe she will be able to eat several small amounts over the course of the day, maybe 5 times instead of 3, to give her some calories and protein in small amounts that won't upset her stomach, but will help give her the strength she will need for the exercises.
Fantastic news about the mattress solution. It sounds like a good plan! I hope you will be able to procure the foam pad quickly!
I am keeping you always in my prayers, for healing and rest, and calm.
